5th post down, great minds and all that?

For those of us who know only a little bit about him, can anybody elaborate on whether he's a good addition to the club.

Can you not tell from the general replies on here that it is seen as a good addition to the club?

With Dave Clark and Phil Bailey it's a real shame we missed out on Paul King.

Your right, I should have put " why he's a good addition to the club" rather than " whether he's a good addition to the club".

Still, I'd like to know why he's a good signing for the club?

The Welsh born Austrailian? So, how's that work then?

Really has been screwed over @ Barrow.

Who has he replaced? Or is he in a new role that no-one held previously?

Incase some of you don't know as it's not been mentioned on here yet, that Clark was Championship Coach of the Year last year.

Hasn't he been replaced as head coach twice at barrow now?

He has mate, it was bizarre.

He was assistant then appointed head coach.

Then stepped down to assistant midway through last year as they appointed Steve Deakin.

Deakin walked out after about 4 games so they gave it back to Clark who went on to win the league and play-offs.

They Steve McCormack was appointed head coach in the off season and Clark went back to assistant.

He was incredibley loyal to Barrow as an outsider looking in, I'd have walked a long time before as he was seen as a stop gap on many occasions.

Maybe a future assistant for Wane when he takes over as head coach in a few years?

So is he going to be coaching the academy team or anything then?

It sounds to me like we're just going to be sending him round to local schools, rather than using his undoubted coaching knowledge with the junior players.

Seems like a waste of talent to me, but maybe I'm reading it wrong?

Whatever his role one thing is for sure- The club has put together one hell of a staff set up.

Slowly but surely Lenagan is ticking off all the things he promised when he took over and we're heading in the right direction.

Happy days.

Perhaps his role will be to assist the coaches and coaching in schools, improve that and the standard of play at that level.
Teachers have a lot to deal with these days and any help in improving the standards at schools level can improve the game in time to come.

Unless the teacher takes specific interest in Rugby League, the school unfortunately does nothing about it. I'm a qualified coach for ages 5-11 for all sports, my favourite obviously being rugby. I've been to primary schools and have taught kids rugby - many didn't even know of the game except from the shape of the ball. The teacher had little influence at all.

Even refereeing the events where many primary schools appear, a lot just turn up for the sake of it. Only in some schools is rugby still popular.

Hopefully one of his main roles will be pointing the club in the direction of some more cumbrian lads, who we can develop in the same way we have with Mossop.

If he isn't directly involved in coaching, it seems a strange one to me, but im sure he has the credentials for the job.

I think you will find Dave Clark wasnt screwed over by Barrow, when he publicly stated that he didnt want the head coaches job on numerous occasions last season. When he was replaced last season it was because he went to the board and said he had taken them as far as he felt he could so they brought Steve Deakin in who was then kicked out 4 matches later for unknown reasons, Clarky was then asked to take over for the rest of the season and led Barrow to the title, which straight after again said he wouldnt be going for the head coaches job and that he would rather work under someone with more experience. To say you have brought in a loyal person would be a understatement, he is said to be gutted that he's leaving Barrow but the Wigan job is too good an opportunity to turn down, and all the very best to him. Dave Clark = Barrow Legend!!

Give him time to sort all the bits and pieces out, and I reckon we'll be telling the rest of SL: Catch us if you can!!
