I would not call Calderwood a key player when he was in our team.

We don't need a Barrett player who will just be a one man team, we need a player who can lift the team with big players like Barrett did but not on Barrett wages.

I reckon there'' be a press conference at 2pm, on Thursday, at the Stadium where Cher will sing Turn Back Time and announce that Dave Whelan's coming Back with a New Chairman (Someone by the name of Uncle Mo!) and they have bought a 25 year old Darren Lockyer, Mark Gasnier, Wally Lewis, Brett Kenny, Wendal Sailor and the Major announcement that John Monie's coming back for a 3rd time!

After that Bobby Ewing will appear from the showers and tell us all that it is in fact 1995 all over again and the last 12/13 years have just been a Bad Dream!

We don't in fact need to overall our Youth System so IL & BN have been wasting their time over the last 2 years and we can in fact Buy our way to success as what's the chance of a Salary Cap ever coming in eh? Plus, if it does Mo & Uncle dave will always find a way around it won't they?!

Latics will still be in the 4th Div, Central Park doesn't need to be sold as it can be redeveloped (Honestly!) And Wigan Will still have a God given right to Win Everything!

Why talk about people we have never replaced? Its not like we can have them back.

You don't get players like Barrett on the cheap and Leeds and Saints have had their big name players over recent seasons and Wire just won the cup while paying King a fortune who scored the odd try in the semi.

We will win very little without some class players in the side and they don't come cheap.

Well I think we do need a Barrett. I have never understood this notion great players are a problem.

I have seen plenty of great players like Barrett at Wigan and they have been a pleasure to watch. Sam Tomkins could be a great player. Should we sell him if he gets too good?

very true dave if wigan want to move forward we need a TOP CLASS prop, someone like carl webb, and they wont come cheap, we need to put our hands in our pockets to improve otherwise we will be sat hear next season saying exactly the same thing.

I think we are still struggling due to the wage structure that is slowly being put into place. 1 major error IFL has made has been to announce dates publically as to when we will start to see some moves in the market and insinuating big names may well come in.

We have to get a balance in the squad 2-3 top class players mixed with a number of good youngsters and good to top class SL players. We have a huge monkey on our back with Fielden and many of the junior players have rightfully recieved upgrades, this said i still think we will have cash to spend but for whatever reason we have decided not to at the moment spend it or at least that is how it seems.

I guess we will see all in good time how the squad looks for 2010, but it is clear any team looking to win a trophy needs to have world class players in its squad.

Wigan have moved forward what we need is Patients for us to take the next step.
In 2010 all of the old contracts will end and then we will be on more of a level playing field as regards wages.
This will mean we can strengthen the squad even more with better contracts for the younger players and maybe bring in one or two new players.
To many on here want instant success we we are no longer under Uncle Mo and we are limited in what we can spend.
The last time Wigan bought success it nearly cost us the club and i don think anyone on here would want that.

I'll get on to Wigan Infirmary and see if they can spare a few.
