As a big Ainscough follower that is what sets him apart from most other wingers.

To be fair tonight though hving only listened to the game Roberts sounded very solid in defence.

Another thing noticed tonight Brian was that Dobson's deficiencies were not particularly obvious and I looked hard for them. Once again he was the difference in a tight game.

Well in that case i think we need to ask why given the fact we continully failed to hurt them down the middle even with repeated sets and pressure.

To be fair he did have a reasonable defensive game, but he did spend a lot of tome defending out wide and I don't think we "got at him"

Ainscough is the sort of winger who is a real handful and looks for work. The exact kind we need given what poor service we give to our wingers.

I argued often Calderwood was not used properly because he needed open space and we never gave it. Well Ainscough does not and tonight that game was IMO tailor made for him.

If we have flown Roberts over for one tackle and a ball steal, then whoever signed his contract should be sacked immediately.

If Ainscough has been dropped after scoring 17 tries because he has things to work on in his game, then why hasn't Roberts been dropped because he isn't scoring tries?

I would rather have a winger who gets a bagful every week, and let's a couple in, than a winger who contributes nothing. (Apart from a tackle and a ball steal, of course)

I'd aim to put Riddell in the reserves for 3-4 weeks.

At a lower standard, he'd be able to spend more time of the field at a less intesity which I think he needs. On two instances last night, he dropped the ball at acting halfback and even didn't realize that his team mate had played the ball....To me, that's a lack of fitness & concentration which would be ironed out within the reserves giving him longer spells on in the pitch, more time go through the motions and more importantly, a kick up the backside.

On the flipside, Michael McIlorum is playing fantastically well regardless of Riddell's poor form.

I understand that Riddell is a former NRL superman, but to me he looks out of his depth.

If I could be bothered I would go back about 10 weeks to find the threads were certain people were telling me that Riddell was the saviour, and that he was better than any other hooker at the club.

Those people look a bit silly now.

the guy has had an off-season to get fit. were nearly half way through the season and theres still concerns about his fitness. think it wil take alot more than afew weeks in reserves to sort him out.

All i am able to do is speculate but to me if we stick with a tactic that continually fails to produce the desired returns, then changes need to be made, it seems to me we just continued to attempt to go down the middle time and time agin which played right into KR's hands.

We didnt. We tried kicks, we tried various attacking plays. Due to the conditions the wingers had to come back inside or they would have been taken into touch.

KR scored two of the luckiest tries you will ever see. Their last was a cracking move. But they played the same way.

As time ticked down we forced more and due to the weather the ball went to ground, its that simple, when you see the game I cant see how you will see it differently.

We had 3 sets of 6 on their try line. 10 one-out dummy half runs, a number of fumbles, and one kick.

We lost, and it was nothing to do with Hull KR's luck.

We did exactly the same as we did against Saints earlier in the year when we lost. We had all the possession, and no idea what to do with it.

I said at the game last night i agreed with the decision to rest Tomkins but his absence showed why he must be brought back in next week.

FWIW i didn't think Riddell played too badly. He defended tough(but not as tough as McIlorum) and made a couple of good runs even charging onto one like a prop.
