Although he has played well the last few games.

| Its official, he hates it here, doesn't like the stick of his own fans and the pressure is too much and will maybe look at what Wigan has to offer to make him stay.
He has booked up the last few games mind and he hasn't had the stick, if he carries on he wil get more praise, its shimples shtuart, carry on playing like you are and you will enjoy playing for Wigan a lot more.

| Seems quite honest about himself and his form there. Can't believe they put the Willie Mason question in!

| Quote Why do you think that you've been unable to replicate the form which you showed for Bradford since joining Wigan and playing in the 2006 Tri Nations?
Chris Handley, Salford
I don't know. If I could put my finger on why then I would have changed it by now. I've had spells where I've not been far off and I don't think I'm too far off now.'"
Quote Have you found it difficult to deal with the tag of world's most expensive player?
Matt Jennings, Wigan
I thought I would be fine with it but I probably never felt as much pressure at Bradford as I do at Wigan. You do get pressure and more stick from fans. Criticism from the media and opposition fans is a given but criticism off your own fans is probably the worst thing you can ever get and there is a lot of that at Wigan and I am probably top of the list.'"
Sorry Stuart, but we paid £450,000 for you and pay you God knows how much wages and your performances by your admission have been ''Not far off in spells''.
I've not a clue how he expects the supporters to react? He's the one who signed the dotted line and he's the one who hasn't replicated performances from his previous club, so surely criticism is justified?
Personally, I like Fielden both as a bloke and as a professional regardless of his failure to live up to expectation...But he needs to accept criticism instead of just acknowledging it. Once he does that, he'll then realize the amount of praise and support he gets from the Wigan supporters. If they're like me, they have been hoping and wishing for Stuart to do well for his sake as well as the clubs.
I don't think Fielden realizes that.

Agree totally.... The reaction after he scored at Wakey not only showed his passion for the game.... But it also looked like a bit of a "up yours" to some of the criticism he has taken. Just the way i saw it, and i suppose the way i would have reacted too...

| I think it's simple with Fielden, he's just not as good as he once was. He was awesome for Bradford for several seasons, along with 3 other massive props, before we signed him and he was very good when we first bought him. Now he's a good Super League player who can still turn in the odd great game, but in my eyes is still a very valuable member of the team.
I know the price tag brings the expectation that he'll batter teams every match and I get as frustrated with his performances as everyone else. I do agree with him though that he's getting back to form. I thought he came across as realistic & honest and not taking it all too seriously with those questions.

He probably didn't expect the level of criticism from the Wigan fans he receives; don’t forget he played in a good team which also happened to be his local club. The level of abuse that Wigan grown players is less than those bought into the club.
At Bradford he was developed into the team over a period of time and was a round peg in a round hole, fitting well into the team. At Wigan he was dropped into a struggling side, with high expectations that he would be the saviour and would fit perfectly, maybe his loss of form can be attributed to the lack of support from the fans, changing management in the club, personal issues and not being in the environment which he developed in for example. Wigan signed him and have to be partially responsible for the loss of form, it’s not just down to Stuart.
I have moved jobs on a number of occasions and sometimes found myself in and environment that I just don’t like and so don’t perform as well despite the task at hand being my forte. Is it my fault or the employer, I would argue a mixture of both.

I think both Alanpdodd and Rilo's posts some up Stuart Fielden's Wigan career.
It's a shame that it's become personal between Fielden and the supporters.
I don't think he realizes how well we really want him to do, for his sake as much as the clubs.

| Was going to put this as a seperate thread title as I have been severely brassed off with (Some) of our supporters over the last 3 months.
Does any other set of fans micro analyze the club, its coach, it's tactics, his team selection and criticize itself to the extent that even every bit of good news is turned into a Negative spin like we at Wigan do!
It's like we try to find any reason to have a dig at something rather than take the positives out of it.
I read plenty other teams boards although I don't post that much on them and nowhere have I seen as much anlaysis & criticism of minor issues exploded into Negative Controversy like I have seen on here!
In fact I stayed off for 1 full week on purpose after the Catalans Game as I think I would have Thrown myself under a passing Truck if I had come in you'd have though it was that bad!
After the Saints game at Murray field I did almost the same and didnt come on for 4 or 5 days only to find that some people were still criticising Npoble for dropping Ainscough and stating Fact that we were progressivley going back as a club becuase we are currently in 9th and last year we had Negative points difference and went out in the cup at the qtrs not the semis blah blah blah!
I created a thread (One of very few that I have done) on "Turning the Ship around and was immediately castigated by some and even though many people agreed and many facts backed up the positive Vibe I have about the club at the moment it was just tossed to one side by some as we weren't SL Champion/CC Winners & WCC winners after 18 months of IL's Tenure!
Fielden's done alright for Wigan, not great, not fantastic but alright!
He played an important part in the most significant period in Wigan's history end of 2006 and then had an average (For him) 2007.
He played well back end of 2008 and should have gone to the World Cup given the injuries we had and what was available (And being there 1st hand I can tell you he couldn't have done any worse than some of the puddings we took instead!).
He has had an up and down 2009 so far however his form over the last 6/7 weeks has been encouraging HOWEVER
if he hadn't scored that try last week he would have been pilloried by some last week. He scores that try and all of s sudden some get off his back!
IT'S FRIDAY! IT'S GAME TIME AGAIN EVERYONE! I CAN'T WAIT!
A Few scoops and a cracking game in store!
We win we go within 2 point of 3rd I think with 3 or 4 more winnable games to come!
lets not hinder that by negativity over the tiniest issue and get behind them!
