Yes, Monie came from the Eels, where he won the league.

Graeme Lowe had only coached Queensland Cup before he came to us.
Graeme West didn't get the job due to his coaching resume.

Monie is still my joint favourite coach, and not for anything he achieved while coaching us, but rather for his ability to talk and analyse the game, providing great insight. The other is Bennett for much the same reason along with his ability to make the tough and often unpopular decisions for the good of his club.

If I was a young and upcoming coach, i'd spend as much time listening to these two guys as possible. I hope if Wane does get the job, that he can get some support and advice from such greats of the game.

I'd still prefer someone who's actually been in the same crucible that formed these greats of the game.

Shaun would be an ideal second-in-command IMO.

Oh i agree with you completely that i'd prefer an experienced coach. I'd like to think though that the club can try and be innovative finding some 'consultancy' for Shaun if he is put in direct charge - happens in Business all the time, really wish we had close ties with the likes of Bennett who has so much to offer the sport.

theres an article in league weekly that states Wigan are actively pursuing Mcguire and that the visa issue is the hold up. Also states the RFL have given their full backing to the appointment of Mcguire as Wigan coach. States that warn will only be offered the job if Mcguire is refused a visa
