Genuine question. How well is Lammy qualified to actually take on such a job?'"
Lam as an assistant along with Wane to Smith, Murray or Folks (in that order of preferance) would be ideal for me.
I do not think Lam or anyone else for that matter should walk into a job prior to being a first team coach, unless it is an internal promotion of a top quality candidate.

So what we're basically talking about here is fans wanting yet another ex-Wigan name to take on the job purely because he was an heroic player?
This is a genuine question. I haven't heard much about Lammy's coaching credentials, and now it seems there aren't too many of them. In which case, as you say, it'd be sheer folly to give him the top job.

Assistant coach for Roosters and Papua New Guinea national coach. OK PNG didn't win a game in the 2008 WC but 32-22 against England isn't bad considering they are basically a team of amateurs.

Still doesn't sound particularly well qualified to me. On the basis of this experience, it'd surely be better to give him an assistant-coach role initially.

I quite like the idea of a pornographer being in charge of our club. It would give us some much needed kudos.

| I'm sorry but I really don't buy into this 'he was a good player for us so he'll be a good coach' bo**ox. Wane as it is turns out to be a great coach, everyone who has worked with him has only positive things to say about him - taking over from Noble? I'm not sure.
Noble IMO will probably be the coach of Wigan RL next season - I think it's time people started accepting it.

I also believe this and possibly a more relevant discussion should be who will Wigan target for a new assistant coach now Pendlebury has a new role.
Adrian Lam in that role would be superb.

Andy Farrell would also fit the bill.

Isn't Kris Radlinski rumoured to be taking a coaching role at Wigan, could be a possible target maybe?

Radlinski has already taken up a player development role at Wigan.

| Kearney must be the next coach to get a big job when it comes up after the WC right?
Not only has he been serving his apprenticeship since 2006 under Craig Bellamy but he's also worked with the great Wayne Bennett at NZ!
That’s two of the best coaches around at this time.
When you put him against Lam there is only one clear winner surly?

You cant be serious, no disrespect to Stephen Kearney but as assistant to Craig Bellamy and coach of NZ with Wayne Bennett as your mentor, I could do that, we want a tried and tested coach, Brian Smith would be fantastic. Thats if Noble isnt kept on but I would like Noble to stay and finish what he started, we seem to be playing more attractive rugby since the Wakefield game.

So let me get this right working under one of the best coaches around and working with the possibly greatest ever coach counts against him? If new guys don’t get the jobs after serving a long and distinguished time as a number 2 then who does?
How many people have come on here and called for British coaches to go down under and serve an apprenticeship in the NRL before they get a top job? This guy although not British will be on the top of a lot of lists for a top coaching job in the very near future.

A much more realistic question, with far wider possibilities.
Lammy would be my pick or Faz.

| Agree either Lam or Faz.
Lam will know most of our younger players from his previous role.
Faz would put the "Wigan" back in the dressing room.
Faz would need a longer period as asst due to the fact he hasn't done any RL coaching of late. Presuming he has his RL coaching badges.

| I personally think Noble will be put on a 12 month rollin deal to be honest.
The Edwards thing is a non starter with his young un still in school in London, e has no intention of leaving the capital.
Again, as I have posted on here before, I have it from a very close source to Denis Betts, that early in Lenagans tenure, Betts was approached to return as 1st team coach, with the possibility of taking the reigns after Noble.
I can honestly see the Denis Betts thing rearing its head again, he is by all acounts well respected within RU circles due to his work with Gloucester...and has already served more than an apprentership at Wigan.
The man only left due to being shafted by Millward......watch this space.
Denis Betts.
