| The little General is of course completely wrong on his figure of 500 or 518.
Wigan took 843 supporters to Hull FC.

| FWIW i think Wigan have brought good numbers over to Craven park on their previous visits and no doubt will next time. Theres no wonder we get called the team that brings 5000,000000,0000 away fans because it seems thats all some people care about, it really is quite embarrasing

General Zod???
Quote
"For your first Super League game this year at the KC Stadium you only took just over 500 fans.
All things considered this is really poor in comparision to your home support.
Hope you bring more to Craven Park compliment our really good strides we are making with our home support..."
Complete Rubbish mind you, but that's what he wrote!
PS
If I am not mistaken tour 1st year back in SL HKR had their 3rd largest attendance against Wigan With only bigger attendances from Leeds & Hull (Which are a bit closer I think???)
Lat year we were 5th but only less than 200 or so down on Saints & Wire Following!

TBF to you all as well Wigan do usually bring alot more over so we will take that as just a little blip due to the weather/friday night and the poor result the week before.
Hope your back upto your usual numbers on your next visit its refreshing seeing fans in the away stand

| It would appear that the general went to the Rugby Union school of gate counting.
He was only wrong by 69%.
I would say 31% is a failure.

| Our Chairman was on the post match BBC Radio show and he said he went to the FC vs Wigan game and he quoted a figure that Wigan brought just over 500.
He had no gripe against Wigan in particular, he was merely stating that away support across the league is poor in comparision to both Hull clubs.
Like I say, I didn't want to offend anyone as I hope you all come in numbers to our place.

| Seem to recall the official figure being around the 900 mark in the evening post the day after.
That isn't a bad effort at all really considering how difficult it is to get to Hull for alot of people on a Friday night.

| What is this whole thing about away support really?
There are 6 clubs who have the best away support-
Wigan
Leeds
Hull KR
Wire
Saints
Hull FC
The amount the take varies on where the game is, or what night its on.
We take the most to Wire and Saints and have taken more than anyone else to Leeds and Bradford over the last 2 years, we also filled the away end at Hull FC in the play-offs 2 years ago.
Hull KR will take more to the clubs closest to them, and mainly because the fans get excited when they win a game because the expectations are low.
Credit to Wire fans as they underachieve every season but still turn up.
Leeds are good around yorkshire, but average anywhere else.
Saints bring quite afew to our place and Wire and decent in Yorkshire.
Hull FC pretty much the same as Hull KR but higher expectations maybe.
Form, place, time and climate should all be taken into consideration.
And one last thing, who gives a tosss, we should care about the rugby and everyone should care about the home crowds, as that is what will take the game forward.

I would add this into it, more than anything else : Performance.
Wire (struggling at the bottom of the league) travel to play JJB - Following 1500ish, Wire (winning team, near top of league) bring 3500+
Same goes for all teams really.
Put Stains in our position over the last few years and they would only fill 2/3rds of the North, even on Good Friday's.

The tides will turn my friend.
It would be great if we were the top team along with saints, like saints and leeds are now.
Saints would bring more than filling just 2/3rds of the north stand, they brought more than that for the last friendly we had on boxing day at the JJB.

Hmmm not so sure, Im glad our fans have not stopped going.
I rekon if we were where saints have been for the last few years we would be getting 18,000 home fans every game.
I do fear though that if we do not win anything for another few years our amount of season ticket holders will go down to around 7000. We need to take our chance in the challenge cup this year to make sure we dont loose anymore fans from the gates.
IL says he wants average over 20,000 though and really what has he done about it. He should be giving free tickets to all schools fro games against Leeds and Hull FC.

Indeed. My 2 kids go to Judes, but you know they have not had Wigan RL tickets in the 3 years they have been going (even though its supposedly a Rugby School). Had to throw an enormous amount of blue tickets away though.
