Because both their contracts for the year are counted against the cap, whether registered as a player or not.

You are right of course.
Saying that, you would have thought the "spirit of the quota" would count for something.
Fair play to K.R, they have succeeded in finding loopholes, whilst constantly seeking advice from the RFL. The RFL have been complicit in this whole saga and it speaks volumes about the credibility of the whole organisation
I would not at all be surprised if this whole ordeal had been concocted by KR to massively bump up revenue prior to Masons pre arranged departure to RU, in shirts sales etc. Lets be honest, why were the so determined to get him on quota?
This has been about financial gain for KR and media gain for the RFL.
Mason is quids in all round.
Every one is happy..........................

| Brent Kite could be a possibility for next year - have heard in Oz that he may possibly move on, quality prop.
Also what are people's thoughts on Andy Powell, looks like Wasps may be getting rid of him, following his exploits in recent years can't see too many RU teams being interested. He's got the size and the hands to play prop imo and not too shabby in defence. Would be interesting for the right money - There's possibly Henson as well alhtough i'm not sure he'd be up to centre in RL.

| Powell I would be very wary of - can't seem to stay out of trouble ( )
Henson - no way, half the time doesn't want to play and another with a reputation way above his talent.
If these are the best we could do then I would be seriously worried, for the money they would demend there are numerous tried and tested RL players who would be much better.

| Kite would be an excellent signing but I'd still go for O'Meley first as he's already established over here.
Let's face it if you can live in the ar$£ end of the world in Hull then Wigan would be easy.

And surely coming to work for IL and whoever ends up coaching us next year - literally, [iwhoever[/i it is - would be an improvement on working for Kath (I owe it all to you, Gary) Hetherington and Richard (the most out of his depth coach in the history of the game) Agar.

| I think it's safe to say Pat's showing no ill effects from his injury, so let's sign him up. I know a few had reservations on how Richards would recover and rightfully so. But credit to Pat and the Wigan staff, the injury doesn't appear to have had any detrimental effect on his play. Deserving of a new contract for mine.

| Anyone from Wigan think Wigan will try to poach the gun for hire. Tony Smith from Warrington as the new coach for next year. He has a reputation for being a bit of a traveller in coaching terms.
Warrington are an aging team so who knows maybe the youth at Wigan is something he would like to work with.

Could be, but my feeling is that we will be looking for another up and coming Aussie with a point to prove. I feel that going forward we will be looking to Aus for coaching improvements.

| There's already a good system in place we don't need that muppet Tony smith. On another note I would look at a few players out of contract to bolster the side fir next year wakey ave a good young prop and ratchford is a possibility I'd also like a fullback matt Bowen

He has recovered well. Looking like he has lost a bit of pace though and not running in as hard as he used to.
I think he will begin to run it back in harder with time though. Maybe he is struggling to recover as quickly between games, and again I think he will recover more quickly with time.

| Richards looks as good as ever, game time has improved him over the last three weeks. IL was hinting at Wane being front runner for the job next year, but he talked about a long term plan and another Aussie may be in place to oversea the next two years then handing over to Wane

| Latest rumours from Australia are:
Brett Finch to replace Chris Sandow at the Bunnies, Sandow is supposedly on his way to the Eels.
Nathan Brown linked with the Wigan job, supposedly was also offered it before Madge took it when Nobby left.

| Only coaches from England I would like to see at Wigan are Shaun Wane, Nathan Brown or Tony Smith, no-one else is good enough for the standards we have now IMO. Best after that is Brian Noble but he's obvioulsy already done his time.

Can't see Nathan Brown leaving for anywhere else other than the NRL.

| I would take Nathan Brown as Wigan head coach. I like Wane but being a top assistant first team coach doesn't make you a great first team coach.

| Fuel to fire that Finch will leave at the end of the season. Terry Kennedy on Channel 9’s Sunday Roast claims he spoke to Maguire this week about him bringing players back to Souths with him (Hoffman, Finch and Lima in particular) his reply was don’t rule anything out. Plus Jamie Sandow is going to the Eels or Broncos
