Scrapping the Euro Fighter is a contentious issue for me personally.
Air superiority wins wars and the fact that the argies have massively increased the size of there air force in what could be seen as preparation for another assault on the Falkland’s. This could get nasty especially with the "fresh" discovery of oil deposits down that neck of the woods.
It is all very well scrapping proposed MOD contracts but it screams of short sightedness IMO
I have always had a great respect for recent Libdem leaders (Ashdown/Campbell etc) but it is the nitty gritty of there softly softly policys that have (historicaly) stopped me voting for them.

From the Lib Dem Manifesto:
* Cancelling Eurofighter Tranche 3b
* Holding an immediate Strategic Security and Defence Review
* Ruling out the like-for-like replacement of Trident nuclear weapons system - planning to save £100bn
* Reducing the numbers of MoD staff and top brass officers
* Military action against Iran ruled out categorically
* Cutting class sizes to ensure children get the individual attention they need
* Axing the National Curriculum and replacing it with a slimmed-down 'Minimum Curriculum Entitlement'
* Scale back Key State 2 tests for 11-year-olds
* Creating a General Diploma to brings GCSEs, A-levels and vocational qualifications together
* Reforming league tables
* Guaranteeing Special Educational Needs (SEN) statements for all five-year-olds
* Giving schools the freedom to make the right choices for their pupils
* Improving teacher training by increasing the size of the both the Graduate Teacher Programme and Teach First
* Setting aside money for schools to increase the energy efficiency of their buildings
* Investing £140 million in a bus scrappage scheme to remove old, polluting buses
* Making Network Rail refund a third of the ticket price where replacement bus services are used
* Switching traffic from road to rail by investing in local rail improvements
* Canceling plans for a third runway at Heathrow and any expansion of other airports in the south east
* Undertaking preparations for the introduction of road pricing in a second parliament
* Introducing a rural fuel discount scheme'"

Politics, like this RL forum, is all about opinions.
Some people like Riddell, some don't. Some want to keep Fielden, some don't, some would keep him if he costs less.
A lot of political bias is based on rumour and pub talk, and probably not on a holistic knowledge. Voters tend to pick up on a couple of policies they favour or oppose, and that forms the platform for their preferred party.
Also, everyone has different family and financial situations.
Someone who drives a car wants cheap petrol. Someone who uses the bus or train wants better transport links, more bus lanes and congestion charges, to get cars off the road. Getting to a rugby game now costs us nearly £50 in fuel. A party that makes it cheaper gets my vote tbh.
Being an older person, I'm not interested in the education policies, but I am interested in the pensions and healthcare situation, which I'll need in a few years time.
Elections are more about voting people out, than in.

Very true, but sadly we won't be voting Labour out of Wigan any time soon.

| Right, this is the most random question in the world.
Anybody who watched the old Ibiza Uncovered series, does anybody know the song that is played in the background when Lisa I'Anson is telling viewers what's coming up in the episode?

| Whilst sitting here trying to appease my boss by pretending to be working, I've had a look at the ever-terrible Wigan Today website and in particular their poll on who readers will vote for in the election. The results are:
16% Labour
9% Conservative
4% Lib Dem
31% BNP
40% Other
The only 'other' candidate in the constituency is the UKIP candidate and I doubt he'll be winning the seat so suspect people are just a bit...confused...there.
But can it really be true that 31% of Wiganers who have bothered to take the admittedly pointless poll on the admittedly terrible website really plan to vote for the BNP? What the hell is wrong with this town?! Going off this poll, it is entirely possible that we could end up with a BNP MP. I feel a bit sick.

Nope, just a very small sample size, and probably an organised voting move by the BNP members.
