Given the strength we have in the second row we could chuck the cash at a top class strike centre if one was to become available to give us that threat out wide again. We are desperatly in need of someone who can make a break on the flanks out of nothing now and given Carmont is OOC he could very well be the man to make way IF the right calibre of player became available.

Any centre that replaces Carmont before he's totally done will have to be a certain star for me. We can't afford to release Carmont and then end up with an un-interested superstar like Matt King.

matty johns was part of the coaching staff at melbourne. Radlinski speaks very highly of his influence on the players when he was here.

If any half decent centre is available, I would release Carmont without question, very committed player, but his poor defence has got us a fair few times this year.

If it was a choice between Atkins or Cooper, for me it would be Atkins, surely we've has are hands burnt to many times by overseas stars.
If were looking for a player in a certain position I personally would go British every time if possible, for a number of different reasons.

Atkins is a good player without doubt but would we be willing to pay the transfer fee. I'm not so sure.

Well I am not sure about McDermott but I am glad at least you and AJ share my reservations about Lam. I thought I was the only one who thought it would not be a good move given the situation we are in and what actually needs sorting out.

I share them too. He hasn't done anything like enough as a coach to convince me that he'd improve us in any way, let alone in the vital areas where we are so plainly lacking.

They don't sound too unrealistic either tbh, Atkins/Shenton are both off contract at the end of next season aren't they so could quite easily see one of them replacing Carmont.

Pretty sure Briscoe would love a return to Wigan (ask him on BBC Sport if you haven't already

) and it would mean we could send Ainscough out on loan and open up another quota spot with the release of Phelps.

Goulding+Hansen+Cash would be a hard offer for Salford to refuse and couldn't see Myler not wanting to move. Just need to outbid Wire.

Pritchard has said he would be open to super league offers and with Bailey, Hock and if Hansen was involved in a swap deal then we could easily accomadate him and he would rip super league up IMO. Kearney could be able to convince him too

A lot of those players are contracted. What you fail to understand is that even though contracts can be bought out, who's to say those players don't want to up and move their families, make their partners get new jobs etc.

Its been said a few times on here that Briscoe would love to return to Wigan.
Myler wouldn't have to move house or family
Shenton/Atkins would more than likely move if it meant they could further their careers, and its only an hour and a bits drive

I asked the man himself when he came into my workplace around the time he was leaving Hull if he'd like a return to Wigan and all he said was he wasn't interested which club he went to as he had to get the best deal for his young family and thats what he did at Hull KR.

by most accounts Atkins is Leeds bound, and even if he doesn't both himself & Shenton are at teams on the up, whereas Wigan....I think most of you lot (from what I've seen on here) expect way too much from the team and it isn't the clubs right to win every trophy/sign any player that's good.

+ To get shenton it'd cost a fair bit

Wakefield aren't really on the up though and Castleford had a good start but are starting to fade.

There is a lot more potential in Wigan than in either of them teams and with the coaching staff looking like its having a re-shuffle providing the right people are brought in things are on the up for.
