Fair enough. As this is a forum, you do sometimes get conjecture before the event, though. I recall similar threads before McGuire was rightly banned, and wondered whether the conjecture, inc by our coach, concentrated the minds of the disciplinary committee.
Consistency from the disciplinary committee is an important point, especially if we have, say 3 teams with very little between them. Who knows how we would have gone on with Micky in the Leeds game we lost by a point?

The thing I find more puzzling in all of this is that Wire got the penalty.

The linesman states that in his opinion that Webb threw the first punch, but ignores any of the prior events. So it's OK for Westwood to follow Webb well beyond where he should have been, argue, push to the face (it's an attack to the head, and Elima got penalised just mins later for pushing in a tackle). But for Webb to have reacted to this is a penalty against him?

Silverwood lost control of that game and didn't help with stupid refereeing.

If he was giving the penalty to Wire then it could definitely have caused some issues with both sets of players who were already pumped up.

The next person on half-term to make a childish, name-calling comment will be taking a break.

I would be astonished if there were a conspiracy, but the issue at hand - why have so many Wigan players been banned and sent off and the relative consistency - is worth commenting on. Hard though that may be for you to grasp. Do your best though.
If it is a valid argument that Benny is a great lad - and bear in mind the Wigan club and the Wigan fans have supported him substantially this year - and Webb is really unpleasant, and so chasing after him and decking him is fine, then it's worth knowing that.

Part of me want's to stick up for Westwood. He's a great player and you could argue that Brent Webb had it coming to him having spent most of his time on the pitch roughing it up so to speak. However, When a player follows someone 15 metres forward from where the ball is being played to instigate a fight you have to question whether a sin bin is sufficient? Mcllorrum got a red card last season for striking Elima (and rightly so imo, it was idiotic and I'm not for one minute defending it). Yet , following someone down the pitch and striking a player is seen as less serious and only given a Yellow? When you look at some of the ban's and cards that where dished out last season, like the magic game for instance, it's no wonder decisions come under such scrutiny. Consistency is all people want to see.

Catalan's are their own worst enemy at times, but when you have Silverwood in the middle being so inconsistent and letting so much lying on and messing around at the ptb go unpunished I expected the match to turn sour.

Benny Westwood and Webb were always going to get charged with fighting. After the events of the weekend maybe Richard Silverwood and john child should be getting disciplined. Silverwood caused most of the problems on Friday night by not stopping the lying on early doors, and Mr Child just seems to move on from one disaster to another.
It's also interesting that Benny has had a fair bit of support for his actions from people on this site. Looks like everyone hates Brent Webb.
Instead of changing the title to the thread, maybe the author of it should change his tablets.
