| Quote ="Red Hot Jalapeno"So thats your only reason for thinking he is the right man for the Wigan job?
Lets forget Wayne Bennett's influence for a minute and also lets forget the fact that NZ are a very very good team made of primarily of players playing in the NRL every week (so basically a 2nd Aussie team).
Kearney won one game V Australia. So did David Waite,so did Brian Noble.
It just doesnt add up as anything like a good reason for making him coach of Wigan sorry.'"
No you said Kearney had done nothing to prove he was a good coach!
I'd class winning the World Cup as doing something as a coach btw.
Who do you want as the Wigan coach? Apart from Waite who’s done nothing since winning the GF in aus 13 years ago who do you want or should I say who is this world class coach your are demanding.
Or is you’ve thrown your toys out of the pram big style because you backed Noble to the hilt and have been promising this amazing Brian Noble led assault on the league which has never materialised?
At the end of the day we’ve still got a talented team that has so much more potential to show than it currently is and any coach we bring in should find the initial part easy of getting us higher than we currently are much in the same way Noble did.
The test is maintaining improvement week by week, month on month and season on season which has been BN’s biggest downfall in his time with us.

| Quote ="jonh"My concern with Waite would be strength of character, which was the same concern I had with Noble. He does not strike me as the man to crack some heads which we need.
We have had some top coaches who have crumbled under player pressure and in my opinion losing the dressing room, they do not suddenly become poor coaches just i feel personality lets them down from time to time I would worry Waite would fall into this category. Folks would be on my list again because he does not seem the type to worry about putting a few noses out of joint.'"
Given what's gone on and with various accusations and rumours abound (ie concerns raised in Radlinski's book) it's pretty much certain that anyone coming in with a hardline attitude will lose some of the dressing room anyway. The new coaches job will be to get rid of that destabilising influence and get the club on an even keel before moving forward, will a headline coach want to touch that kind of job?

Regardless of the 'talent' in our squad it appears as if they lack discipline. Hock is just the tip of a very bad iceberg.

Defiantly there is a great difference in a disciplinarian who rubs players up the wrong way like Raper and a coaches like Mike Greg or Monie who aren’t soft in anyway shape or form but yet still managed to keep a tight ship and people who aren’t performing are delt with accordingly.
I’m still praying for a Kearney & Pongia one two and after reading Radders book I want Pongia even more.

Yeah Pongia came over very very well in the book, and certainly in the conditioner roll would get some of are players to break a sweat at the very least.

Hopefully RHJ you finally agree though we would be very unlucky to get a coach from the strictest coaching on field point of view who is worse than Noble has been.'"
I am past Noble now as its obvious he isnt going to be here next year. I still believe he would of sorted us out given more time and the right players in key positions but thats another mattter now as hes obviously not going to be here to finish off what he started. IMO the balance of the Wigan team is awful. Too many strike players and no leader and a poor set of forwards. This is why i cannot wait to get a new coach in so we can see just how much influence it has on the team. My guess is nothing will change until the right players are brought in.
It will be interesting to watch the fans slowly turn on the new coach one by one when things go wrong in future until we end up back in this same situation again in a few years.

| Hopefully the leadership issue will be seen to when the new coach comes in. O'Loughlin is never a captain. Really like the lad and he's played well this year but he's not a captain.

If Kearney is our coach for next season then I would expect some strong Nathan Cayless to pop up in the near future.
Lam as assistant with Pongia as conditioner?

I class a strike player as a runner rather than a creator/organiser.
We simply do not have one creator/organiser in our team other than Smith who is far too hot and cold.

I don't think it's as bad as what some people say it is tbf.
Hock was the main player in regards to his off the field actions and had the reputation for previous indiscipline.
But other than him I don’t think you could point out another player who you think is a completed d!ck head or in the same league as Hock?
Riddell and Feka aren’t the most professional in the way they live there life’s and maybe Gleeson & Smith can be lumped into that group of players you think could set a better example but in the same league as Hock? Not imo.
But let’s not forget or go down the route of a player witch hunt here. We’ve still got plenty of sensible players such as Richards, Carmont, Bailey, Lockers, Roberts, Fielden, Coley, Hansen & Phelps who I’d hate to think are going to be tarnished with the same brush as Hock.
Also young players like Joel, Mcilorum, Sam, Mossop, Prescott and Mcilorum are better than previous generations like Ashton, Brown and Robinson.
All this event has proven is we are in desperate lead for a leader like Farrell, Poniga, Edwards, Cunningham or Peacock in the team as well as a coaching staff that demands high levels of success and professionalism from it’s squad.
We’ve not had the guidance or leadership from senior players or the coaches for a little to long now.

What has the daft notion he was sounded out for the job got to do with the plain and simple English quotes from the people involved saying he has not taken up the job of Wigan coach for 2010? The latter proves the former was not what happened.
