| Opposition fans are getting their knickers in a twist on the VT calling him the usual(scrote, ratboy etc) and asking why he's been chosen to do this. The answer is simple....he's not only the best rugby player in the country he's also articulate, intelligent and will give a good insight in to the game.
The RFL and Wigan are trying to get his face known outside of regular rugby league circles in the hope that not only can we keep him in the sport but that we can use him then as a vehicle to try and grow the game and keep current players like him and future generations in the sport.

You could probably hear it from St Helens! Not as good as watching I suppose, but still amusing.

| Don't particulary have a issue with Sam doing the sky job. I can see people's point of view regarding why they don't like it as it appears he is being funded by outside organisations, and I imagine some Wigan fans would be a bit peeved if say a Wire, Saints or Leeds player had the offer. I personally think its good thing keeping talent in the English game provided the same offers are available to other teams in similar situations.
I personally like the idea of current players being involved and getting their opinions. Hopefully it won't just stop with Sam and other current stars get some air time as said it would be quite interesting getting their opinions. The newly ex
Players for me have done well with the sky team and would only improve the matches.
As for the booing. Never booed him, never will. Or any other player for that matter

| Listening to Sam on Radio Manchester tonight it appears that he will have a 15 minute spot on Superleagues Supermen where he will interview a player about a famous try.

If you know where it says he is being paid by someone else please show us.... And how do you know we would have a gripe if someone else was doing it?... Seems to me like you have made up all your own "facts" here...

It doesn't and I haven't said he is getting paid by sky. I used the word appears, not stating it was fact. Also not stating it is fact that Wigan would have a problem if the boot was on the other foot, however you are deluded if you think not one Wigan fan would have a issue. As I said it isn't a issue for me but I can see some people's point of view as to why they don't like it.

I think he was supporting the fact that Sam is doing this. Don't see the point in trying to argue with him for the sake of it?

I was. Quite happy he is doing it.
I was trying to say probably badly that I can also see why some people might not like it (weather right or wrong)

Did he mention if the show time is being expanded? The usual 30mins supermen then 15mins sam and the super try or sticking with the current 30minute format?

John Wilkin does a lot on BBC coverage and writes an article IIRC? It's practically the same only Sam is working on Sky.

| The very fact that people are debating whether or not an RL player should be allowed to do another job as well shows just how much we've been brainwashed by this 'Salary Cap is God' crap.
Not one of the rest of us us would hesitate to up our earnings if we were offered another job on the side, if we could fit it in easily. In no other walk of life would it be an issue.
And we wonder why players are leaving the game.

| No problems with Tomkins featuring on Sky's coverage, although it maybe should extend to other articulate players within the game to avoid any perception of Tomkins / Wigan favouritism. I'd hate Saints to lose Lomax, for example, to the Union ££ without seeing similar efforts from the RFL / Sky to make staying in RL as attractive as possible, and we should be taking pre-emptive strikes rather than scrabbling round once players have started to have their heads turned.
From a viewing point of view, using Tomkins (and others) would be good to get more 'from the coal face' input into RL coverage.
The only concern is that, sooner or later, the RFL / Wigan / Sky will run out of ways to appease Tomkins' demands for more and this will all have been a little futile.
Hope not.

Well said. I have been banging on for years that it was utterly stupid just about every penny a player could earn besides from playing was counted on the cap.
From day one when all the sport went full time I have been saying if you want a full time pro sport you have to pay the wages for it. That doesn't mean clubs going bankrupt paying wages they can't afford but letting sponsorship or outside earnings supplement the top players wages.
I wonder what Bradford will think of this mind? If I recall correctly they fell foul of the salary cap because the company that sponsored Harris took and add or something in the program (something trivial anyway) so this company was deemed to be associated to the club so any payments had to coun t on the cap.
Unless Sam is doing this for free then surely that kind of restriction is out of the window?

I have my full time day job in computing and I work for the OU as a tutor part time. My employer has no problem with it. In fact they think its a good thing. I don't do it for the money mind you as the pay is rubbish but the principle is the same.

| Right, just watched super league supermens latest installment with Keith senior. Watched them all thus far, and I think Sam is doing a good job.
You will have to bear with me because this sticks in my throat a bit but I actually quite like him, think he comes across well and certainly changed my opinion off him.
Yes I still don't like the V at wembley and he is cocky, but most good players have a eliment of this in them. I am sure my opinion isn't important but I imagine he has changed a few peoLes opinion on him
