I read the posts about Wigan and Latics being tenants. Is that it? Or have I missed something. Why should anyone take offence?

Totally agree, drop the Warriors and keep it Wigan RLFC.

Drop it and sack max and bring back Kelvin and pie man!

I cannot help think that Kelvin looks like a crosseyed cartoon character from a 70's cartoon. Max is great, and better and more identifiable with the kids.

I would like to think so. Not for the reason that "warriors" sounds pretty lame. More for the fact that dropping the warriors may just help to dispel the last 11 or so years (i.e. the time when we have been poor).

IMO the dropping of the name may help to draw a line under what has happened in the past, whilst creating an affinity with the WRLFC of old. The side that people remember as being the absolute best.

In the grand scheme of things the (nickname) of the club means not a lot, but on the other hand it could help us forget the last few years and start a fresh (which i feel) would help the mentality of the club –inc fans- a lot

I am happy with the direction the club is moving in but I would prefer to remember what had stood before. whist looking forward.

The "warriors" tag could just be a blip?

We already had a nickname which is 'The Riversiders' or to some 'The Pie eaters'.

Had this thread/discussion/argument so many times.

I'm not d whether we get rid of Warriors or not.

Max.... I don't quite get why Max should be a centurion when Leigh Centurions have a centurion! Maybe Leigh's version is an Optio?

Personally, I think we should have two mascots.

A Lion called Ancient & a Lion called Loyal.

It would work with kids and they are a traditional part of the crest.

I thought the bullman/bullboy combo was fantastic at it's peak. We could easily pull it off.

I've got a coup that might be in Mr Leneghans price range! It would be a fantastic signing that would bring in two world class people from another sport, they have a good grounding in another club and I'm sure would bring alot to the Warriors.

Apart from Catalans and Celtic, no mention of any 'tags'.
Some don't even have any now, so why do we need to keep ours?

Just to clear it up (in case anyone isnt sure), the name was taken from our Jnr RL side 'Wigan Warriors', after most other SL clubs adopted a catchy name. First started by Keighley Cougars in '95 (i think)?
As our club was pretty much founded by Wigan anyway, we had no choice other than to give the name away, and we became Leyland Warriors instead.

Personally, i dont mind it........But prefer Wigan RLFC for sure.

Classic Idea......Drop the Tag and two lion mascots!! Be great if the club did this for 2010. RE: the Wigan V Latics thing and what we're recognised as I think 90% of wigan (including the pathetics) refer to Wigan RL as Wigan and Wigan Athletic as Latics....always have and will do....we just need to ensure the national media does not start trying to change this with their pro soccer anti league stance. For me we should go back to simply Wigan RL. The lions mascots idea is a cracker

We have about 12 mascots already what with the Kangaroo, Koala, Pigs etc parading around before the match.

And Lions are old-school. Even Max is better than 2 Lions.
