I have always wanted to come but I wouldn't know anyone, without sounding like a critism, from a poster on the boards it can look abit 'clique'. A way to get around this would be to ask the club to put the meetings on the website and maybe even ask for a venue.

Just get yourself down there mate. There’s no clique at all. I only knew a couple of people when we first got together at the Brocket.

As Jukes says, the more volunteers the better. Especially when it comes to putting the things up home & away, carrying them around, picking them up etc.

Phase 2 will require more helpers!

PS Flares are a complete no-no in the stands! Maybe the club can light them for us or let volunteers hold them at the front of the stand. I recall Salford’s mascot doing a lap of the pitch with one before a night game at the Willows!

Until November I only knew 4or5 of the regular 20 or so people who now attend, through going to the meetings I am now able to put faces to names of those people (Jimmy Birts, Matty B, Geoff, Wiganstripe R.L etc) and many interesting and funny evenings are to be had discussing all things Rugby League.

I can certainly get the club to advertise the evenings on the website although I think that may be a bit OTT however one of things we discussed at our early meetings was that we wanted to be "Unofficial" in many ways.
Although we do work with the club to make sure they are happy with our ideas & make sure we comply with H&S etc we wanted this to be as much of a Fns thing as possible.

An idea. If we did, we could have a monthly membership fee of say £5.00 given at every meeting that goes towards flags.

AND

A joining fee of say £5.00 that includes a scarf which is £2.00 when bought in bulk and the rest going towards flag ideas.

Just a couple of examples....Oh, and I'm chairman.

Seriously though, I think starting an unofficial club is a good idea to raise money.

I know there's a lot of planning and things to discuss, but we could raise money whilst discussing ideas at the same time.

We were going to have a "Voluntary" £5 Entrance Fee
The Scarf idea is Great but will cost a bit more than the £2 your Quoting (Approx a Fiver).
It will definately be the "Unofficial Supporters Club".

Now that were out of the Summer Months We Can do Wednesdays!

Just out of interest, 1 of the other ideas was to hold a End of Season Get together at a Local Club with Tickets sold at say £3 Adults - £2 Kids. Venue & Date TBA but around Mid November to coincide with the Anniversary of the 1st Meeting of "The Unofficial Supporters club" AKA "The Regiment".



The evening would be Held to raise Cash towards Phase 2 i.e Flags in Stand on Poles, More Flags for the West Stand etc

We would put Food on (Curry etc)
There would be RL DVD's being played on the TV
Music/Karaoke (For those that are interested)
Raffles (RL Related Prizes)
Guest Appearance (Try and get a current/Ex player there to say a few words)
Auction (We will try & Get some Signed Wigan Memorabilia etc)

The idea was that we would distribute say 5/10 tickets to the regular 15/20 attendees each for them to "Sell".

If we can get 100+ attendees and raise say £200 through the door and Maybe a couple of hundred from say Raffle/Auction we should be able to get close to the £500 mark for the evening to get us rolling for the Following season.

Thoughts/Volunteers to Sell tickets/Anyone think it's a good idea?

Makes sense I suppose, it could mean a new flag every few months without any other fundraising efforts.
