| Quote ="bewareshadows"How much does each team get from the TV deal each year?
Could SLE buying Bradford allow Bradford to be run to the end of the season, then drop them down to the lower division allowing a lower salary cap and lower cost basis. SLE run the Bulls in the championship as not for profit and the cost of buying the Bulls is offset to each club by the increase per club in the TV money with the Bulls gone????
Just a thought.'"
Can't see how the SLE can run/fund the team in the championship as that would then be an unfair advantage to the teams already in there and struggling for finance. The harder you look at the set up of the deal the more it looks like it is just a way of the RFL saving face by not having to justify any manufactured cock-up of the Bulls not completing fixtures this season. Easy enough to expunge all results for home and away matches against Bulls but what do they do about Leeds 3rd game at magic weekend....... That result could affect the final placings for the playoffs.....easier to keep them going for last 5 matches then let them start anew in Championship next season......

| Bilko makes a good point in his match preview, when he points out how much Simon Collinson's move from Bradford to Wigan affected both clubs' fortunes. More people like him are needed in the game.

| The statement today says that SLE will fund the Bulls to the season's end and that players can now look for other clubs, says a great deal.
They are, it seems, looking for transfer fees to pay off the debts of Bradford and that most of today's squad won't feature next year. Trouble is there might not be too many for whom fees will be payable.
Of the 25 squad players 17 are OOC this year. So that only leaves 8 players who would command a transfer fee.
IMO they will attempt to clear the debts, free the players and coaching staff then start up a newco in either Champ or Champ 1.
The new club would then, hopefully, be debt free.
Trouble is some clubs want to keep Bradford in SL. How they do that with a SL calibre squad and over £1m debts I don't know.

Liable for what? I said Brian NOBEL:

| On the other hand we might not!
We won't if they drop into the Championship.
City are not wealthy and I don't see how they can buy the Bulls and pay off their £1.5m debts which they will have to if they are going to remain in SL.
It's an unconditional bid it says so City maybe looking at a Championship club playing at VP.
The £1.5m debts are the problem obviously, so it is how these are managed that will propbably decide the outcome of all this.
Either way, SL or otherwise, they can't retain the quality of squad they have now and financially break even. The overseas players may well be the highest paid so they could be the first to go. Bulls quality younger players could well stay and then build the future of their clubs around them.

| Sorry to bump an old thread but they're now back in the playoffs.
After a 6 point deduction still being able to make the playoffs shows these playoffs are just too inclusive.
Another showing of why it should go back to 6.

But there's a difference there was less teams to make that 6 and it's supposed to be a "level playing field" under the franchise so a team with a 6 point deduction shouldn't be making it especially one that's been so unremarkable.

Or even to 5. At present, the 6th place club has a negative points difference and only won a fraction over half their games. I think it more shows how poor the competition is outside the top 4 or 5.

| I have always felt that having more teams making the play offs that not is a bad idea. Don't think there is any other sport that it happens in. Finishing 8th should not be viewed as a success.

City may well buy the Bulls and play at Odsal themselves. I believe they no longer own valley Parade and pay a huge rent just to play there.

Would be a logistical nightmare to incorporate segregation? Where would they section off the away fans with seperate facilities etc?
