I would love a rival ultras group to compete with on a matchday. Good luck to them, I know a poster on the saints' site has been trying to get a similar thing going for years.

The Green Brigade are a source of inspiration for the Brigantes, along with many Ultras groups at home and abroad.

Indeed, it would probably spur us on even more as well!

As Suzy says, we've taken inspiration from Celtic, Accrington Stanley, Liverpool, Man Utd, Dutch football, Spanish football, the NRL and added our own bit to it where we can. We won't deny that.



Spoke to Ski at length about it in Cardiff and he simply hasn't had the backing from the fans and club that we've had. The turnout at the first meeting was superb and the way everything has moved from there is honestly unbelievable. When 21-12 and Jimmybirts came up with the idea and discussed it with me it was a bit like when IFL took his first fans forum. We'll get a foothold this year, kick on next year and then in the third year be ready to give it a real good go. Looking where we are now after 18-19 months I can't wait to see where we are this time next year.

To go from about 3 flags (that's how many were in France in 2009) at the first meeting to 11 for the Crusaders game 3 months later was good going we thought, but we now have 29 with 2 or 3 ready to go for Wembley. A 46ft 'WE ARE WIGAN' banner, 2 terrace banners, around 9 big wavers and the large number of home made ones that Dave26 has produced recently. It really is superb and frighteningly still growing. If other clubs want to copy us then when not?? I get regular e-mails from fans of other clubs asking where they were made and how we get it to happen etc. Imagine how good Old Trafford would have looked if our 19 flags were copied at the other end by St Helens? Or if at Wembley Cas/Leeds brought 20-25 flags like we hope too (RFL permission granted of course)?? Bring it on I say.

The only thing similar is St George fans and their flags.

How is it a dig at saints? It is a compliment that anyone would want to replicate what we are trying to achieve by using similar methods.

You're not the first supporter group though was my point, not criticising it, just don't make out it's original when it's been done by dozens of teams before you.

We put on a great display once again and its all down to the hard work that went on behind the scenes and inside the stadium. I was a very proud Wigan fan yesterday at our support once again. As for rival teams starting a similar thing..............fantastic. I really hope they do it, its great for the sport and it will encourage us not to be "out done" leading to some brilliant displays. Its great to know we are inspiring other RL clubs to follow us in fanatic support.

Good post. Me and JimmyBirts were under no illusions that this would be a long term plan, but didnt expect it to take off so quickly. The backing we have had from Wigan supporters like yourself, jukesays, twosevenzero, Rogues Gallery, odemwingie, Suzy Banyon, dave26 etc etc etc has been absoulutely terrific and it can be quite emotional at times for us on days like yesterday, that was the dream, to have the best, most fanatical support in RL. The scarves, flags, everything that has been built up is now looking the way we wanted it. But as I said, never in a million years did we expect it to become THIS big.
