Fickle as they come you lot. Clearly a top lad and an absolutely solid player who lost his way a little as part of a failing culture then was hung out to dry as some sort of scape goat (much as Cooper was) - worst thing about it is that most fans seem to have bought into that ideology and struggle to see that building on the back of players like that usually brings success. You've still some top lads coming through with the likes of Ben Currie & George Williams adding some decent experience, but somehow the importance of this is completely cast aside time after time in pursuit of instant success with big money signings.

| Quote ="NSW"25 carries and nearly 180m on Saturday, workhorse.
Will have fond memories of Toby. He’s a great interview and gives nice answers rather than robotic cliches.
Spoke to him after the game on Saturday and he was class act (as Jukes has said). To say he’s not looking forward to going back to that circus is an understatement.
Shame he can’t stay but it was never really an option.
He would be able to return after his lucrative Wire contract is up after 2025. But at that point he’ll be 30 and Wigan I’m sure will have moved on.
Hope personally he can have a nice rest of his career.'"
I think that sums it up nicely, TK has been critical to Wigan's success this year. AK is probably as good as any replacement we could have got - in the top 20 for try scorers this season; makes good metres when he carries the ball (doesn't take as many carries as Toby); needs to improve his tackling success rate (I'm sure he will with our coaching, TK did the same); needs to reduce his penalty count; can kick goals; isn't battered and bruised from playing in the NRL for years; played his first full season for Catalans which will stand him in good stead; plenty of improvement in him.

| Him and Cooper not done too bad for bad apples. Not bothered in the slightest he’s turned us down, as people have said short career need to earn the money while it’s there. Same with Nicholson. You work hard you get your chance. Can’t cut corners and Warrington seem like a club happy to cut corners.

Sticking with comments on King. He refused to play in the reserves, forgot his passport when playing Catalans away and insisted on bringing his dog to training. Powell didn't like this attitude and he was out. If Wigan thought as much of him as suggested I am surprised they wouldn't pay all his salary when on loan, nor match his contract terms now. He's an average centre, miles behind Wardle yet he is being made out as the next Meninga.
I accept completely that our club is a basket case too.

| Interesting noting comments post game by King stating that Warrington have hardly spoken to him and how he better not say too much or else people will take it the wrong way and he'll be in trouble. He said what will be will be and he'll worry about next year when it comes. He won't be at Wigan and will likely be at Wire but that didn't sound a certainty. Again the issue with a move to another club would come down to money.

| Wire when selling there season tickets (which a significantly more expensive than Wigans I may add), have been hailing the return of “home grown star Toby King”
Hilarious really, he was boo’d every time he touched the ball at the HJ.

| As a Wire fan i am pleased for the lad.
Obviously ,there were some issues between Mr Powell & the players for us to lose so many of our team over the last couple of years. I just hope his heart doesn't stay in Wigan though otherwise it could be a bad move to bring him back if he doesn't want to be at Warrington. Have there been any moves to keep him at Wigan ?

Yes,funny how he was a bad influence at a club with a great record of wins and he comes to little old Wigan with their problems and everyone loves his attitude and his desire to succeed.
Just cant figure that one out, same goes for Cooper (same club same bad attitude)

Seeing as he only counts 50k on your salary cap money isn't the issue for Warrington either?
The only problem with the situation is Warrington
They offered the contract, they employed Darryl Powell, they allowed him to go on loan to Huddersfield, they paid the difference, they allowed him to go to Wigan and paid the difference (whilst indulging Daryll Powell with his Matatuia/Minikin etc Dudson,Maguire, Kasiano signings)
Maybe the club needs to look inward at its behaviour, culture, management set up etc
And the fans need to be asking why they aren't happy to see an International, Grand Final winning centre who gives his all in very game in line with his abilities I.e. Hard working etc. Back at the club, but we're doing cartwheels over signing a crocked inglis or a terrible/average replacements like Matautia or Minikin
Wonder how Briers felt he was treated, Mike Cooper, Josh Charnley, the list goes on and on
What I will say is, he's been a pleasure to have play for us and actually spoke to 2 of Wigans coaches about him 6 weeks ago and they said his attitude (and Wardles) has been outstanding since the day they walked in
Wonder what it is about 6 x time Grand Final Wigan that suddenly gets the best out of players?
PS
Is he the first Warrington player to win championship since 55?'"
Good stuff. I hope you find the money to keep him (or he accepts less money to stay). See what he values the most in any case.
I agree our club definitely needs to look at our behaviour, culture, management set up etc
For the avoidance of doubt we were not "doing cartwheels" about signing a crocked inglis or a terrible/average replacements (sic) like Matautia or Minikin - far from it.

Yes - Warrington is a basket case.
Yes - you are all happy you won the GF
Yes - you are big fans of Toby King
I hope you keep your wonder centre and take him off our books. He's not even the best centre in your team

According to Lenegan we had agreed for next season it was only the cap change why Wire changed their minds. Something while he said it was their right to do he didn't seem happy with how it was done as he then went on to say quite a bit of what he thought about how you was being managed.

I'm quite sure. We employ a woefully out of depth clown as a CEO. The same clown gave TK the ridiculous contract in the first place.
To help mitigate the effect of the clown we scoured the earth for an international class Director of Rugby. We searched both hemispheres looking for the strategic rugby brain with great contacts in UK, Aus and NZ. The sort of RL visionary who could build a legacy. Luckily for us we found he was already working in our youth set up - we proudly present Gary Chambers! And people wonder why we are mediocre.

Why have you never got rid of the clown. Always baffles me. DP always looked like an abrasive character who looking from the outside in, didn’t have much of a culture building other than scowl at players when they played e then go out on the lash if they won. Appointing Burgess is a strange one, i think he’s a great player and might have the attitude (if it starts to go wrong) of being royally peed off and butt heads with players and they aren’t doing what he could do. Honestly you wouldn’t go far wrong sticking with the chap you had. Give him a go bringing the youth through and see what happens.

| I think Burgess will be good for them, he's got that force of character and will to maybe start some changes off there. He's not stupid, he'll know that they are rotten to the core and I'm sure he'll have guarantees in place about backing him when tough decisions need to be made.

Possibly. DP isn't Burgess however.
Burgess knows what it takes to be successful, DP has never really been a success. If Burgess implements even a quarter of what he learnt from Madge or Bennett, they'll have something light years ahead of what DP offered.
As a starter I think we'll see a team with better conditioning and far more committed. If not, then those players will be gone.

Our Chairman, Middleton, thinks Karl Fitzpatrick is doing a good job so he stays. It's his trainset he can do what he likes. In actual fact our sporting performance since his appointment have all gone one way - down. From a team that was regularly challenging the top 4 playing entertaining RL, winning LLS and Challenge Cups we have now become the laughing stock of the league.
DP did not have the tools in his nal to turn around the culture of mediocrity he came into or the skills to deal with the egos. He fell out with the players and in the end they stopped playing for him. When all you have in your toolkit is a hammer, every problem looks like a nail.
Burgess is nothing more than a high profile punt after Justin Holbrook turned us down. Of course whilst we wish Burgess well, he may throw the towel in with our shambles if things don't go right. He will be readily accepted back in Australia for an assistant role.
In truth we peaked about 2011/12 under Tony Smith. If we were ever going to win a GF it was then. Unmanaged, chaotic decline is what we are left with.

For the most part i agree i just get the feeling that Burgess will be off as soon as the going gets tough. Nothing to back that up in fairness but, for me, it seems like its just a footnote on his CV to help him get a better gig back in Aus
