Possible rain tonight?

The one thing bothering me is our performances in rainy games, semi final especially.

Rain forecast all the way through the game tonight, BIG concern as our wet weather play has generally been poor.

BBC says the rain may die out by 8pm.

My weather app has the rain gone by 7pm

I've had a bet on Catalan and Wigan to win. It comes in and I double my money. The bet loses and we get a home SF (providing we don't lose!)

Agree. I'm happy with him, he's certainly better than most of the rest.

They keep going on about Leighs disallowed try for obstruction but what about jai try for obstruction!!! To be fair both where wrong calls

A joke no try for Field lead to a joke no try for them.

Leigh’s was more a try than Wigan’s, Leigh’s was 100% a try in my eyes and it shows how much the refs call swings these decisions.
Our defence was great tonight but slightly worried we couldn’t grind them down and get some points on the board the second half, I do think Leigh kept pulling out some great plays on the 5th tackle in the last quarter which kept us from really dominating territory and their defence was also very good.
It was a good warm up for the play offs, hopefully nobody too banged up and we can maybe get some bodies back in 2 weeks.

Mixed emotions tonight. We got the job done but that performance won’t get us much further IMO. We didn’t get a great deal of intensity in to our defence until the last 10 mins or so. Call me miserable but I thought we over celebrated the LLS as well.

I don’t feel miserable in the slightest. That was the game I expected and the game we needed. I felt we were pretty dominant in the first half, second was more even. After a couple of big scores recently we needed that kind of battle.

Tonight was about getting the job done for the LLS and building for the bigger games to come. I’d say we did both reasonably well with (hopefully) improvement to come.

I don't think we got the balance right between managing the game but also putting enough attacking play on to cause enough threat to seize more moments when we had good field position.

In the lead up to this game we've had that perfect balance.

It was all a bit safe and predictable tonight and I'm not sure if we are overthinking the wet weather / play off football approach.

We should just continue to do what we've been doing these past 8 weeks or so prior to tonight.

Play too conservatively and you're asking for trouble.

I feel a miserable get myself!! I said pre game that we needed to switch ourselves on and I felt we didn’t quite get to our best. Ultimately we’re a game off a GF and we’ve got a great chance of achieving what we want to.

SKY reporting that Beaumont has refused to allow Lam do a post match interview due to the Gildart no try.

We’ve been watching Grand Finals for 25 years and I’ve yet to see a side who manage to play an open brand of rugby on the night. We have a chance of winning the GF but that performance tonight won’t get us close.

Thought our defensive intensity was fantastic throughout. One poor miss from Bevan but other than that very good. Leigh really are a very good side and I thought that was a great achievement tonight in wet weather.

The two disallowed tries were ridiculous. Nothing wrong with Field's try and the refs clearly decided to even it up with Leigh's.

It actually should be due to the Field no try.

I thought the defence was sleepy early doors tbh. Saints are so boring to watch but their defence will smother you and if we put that performance up against them in a GF, we’ll be done for after 25/30 mins.

If we'd won by 30 everybody would be moaning we've not had an intense game for 2 months and that's no preparation for a knockout game

Not pretty but Smiths kicking game was superb.

I feel we played a bit like Huddersfield in the CC final last year.

We didn’t really throw anything at them and just went set for set and back out defence.

Glad it didn’t bite us like it did them

I’d like to see us play with a bit more confidence with the ball.



Job done though, we need Havard to pop up in the squad for the semi final. Our prop rotation was bad tonight

I’ve got a lot of time for DB but if that’s true he should be ashamed. Yeah, it should have been given but so should the field try imo. That’s just a childish throwing your toys out of the pram response.
