| To be fair, his tries didn't take a lot of scoring. But you have to catch the pass, and make the finish, and he did that. And he had a good all round game too, which probably matters more.
And, y'know, isn't it great to have a guy in your side who can score a try like Field's? And hey, we've got two of them!

Fielld's try was hillarious.
Crappy pass, over his head.
He catches it, looked at the defence, and he looked llike he was thinking "You want me to do what?". "Oh, sod it. go on then."

Yeah agreed on Miski, even if Marshall would have scored all his tries I’d say Miski still had a strong game.
Been spoilt now this season that last night was,,, just okay. Minus both starting halves and Bateman (also Farrell for 50 minutes) and still a convincing win.
Also I think French is a better full back than field, but it’s best for the team that french plays wing with field full back
Loved Frenchs try. 3 massive carries from the props got us to the half way line (Mago, Ellis and Havard I think), then off the front foot the try felt easy.

| Interesting to see O'Neill taking the line on. He is a big lad with good hands and feet. He has played 13 and seems a more solid frame than Shorrocks so we did not suffer when we had Powell, Shorrocks and O'Neill all on the pitch at the same time.
It is good to see KPP back but I would still like to see Halsall in the centre. Our attack was effective against a ramshackle defence and KPP drove the ball in well but having a combination of KPP and ISA at second row and centre is always going to be a bit underwhelming.

| The most pleasing part of Miski’s game look to be the carries from our end again. Nearly 170 metres with the ball. Add in 4 try’s and it’s a great nights work.

I’d say 3 if you include Marshall.
Probably the game that Miski needed to build his confidence.
I wouldn’t mind seeing him tried at centre in the future should we need cover.

| A comfortable win with any number of the first 17 missing.
We all have our stand out moments and players but to me Harry Smith's goal kicking was exceptional.
Most of our tries were wide out and Harry kicking so many was a stand out performance for me.

I can’t see that Miski getting a run at centre. We have Isa, KPP and Halsall (another 3 today for Newcastle).
What having him at the club does mean is that we have cover on the wings and at 1 as it gives us the luxury of resting either Field or French, with Miski taking a spot on the wing if we rest Field with French moving to 1.
Miski is a very good option as back up winger, his carry is very good although I don’t think he is a natural finisher to the levels of our other wingers.
In regards to centre Halsall need to be given the role as first reserve next year. He is clearly a fantastic prospect but we need to see him slowly introduced to see if he is a realistic starting centre in ‘24 probably displacing Thornley.

Think that’s 11 tries in 4 games for Halsall.
Really interested who gets the right centre spot for the next few months.

Agree. I'd rather see him play at centre than move someone like Isa or Bateman there, BUT Isa has played well there the last two games.

| Any news on Ellis? Watching by the game back it didn’t look good. He’s been solid for us so far. Think one of these games it’s going to click of him and he’ll be amazing. Maybe the signing of Cooper may coax this out

Last I heard was Peet straight after the game saying it wasn’t as bad as it looked. Hopefully just a short term thing.
On Cooper I think it’s doubtful given Philbins now out for the season, although they have Harrison back fit, signed a big NRL prop and signed a commentator who apparently plays prop.

If Partington is still out (and I am assuming Ellis) it will be interesting to see the squad for Sunday and if we go with 4 props in the 17 how we rotate them. If Ellis & Partington are unavailable for the Saints game then we really will be stretched against the old enemy.

Smithies and Bateman will be back in for that game mate, not props per say but more than hold there own in the middle.

Think smithies has one more game.
Really want to see shorrocks give a go at 13. Could do with putting a bit more size on but hopefully could be the next ball playing 13

Neither of them are props and wont hold their own against Saints in terms of making yardage particularly from within our own 20.

They might not be props but they're both better at gaining territory than Ellis has been thus far (although I like Ellis - hard worker, durable and perhaps another couple of gears in him yet).

They are not for me as I say from within our own 20 metre area.
I do agree that Ellis is far from the finished article but is capable of high minutes at prop only bettered by Havard in the current squad.
Hopefully Partington may be available for Wakefield on Sunday.

Does Ellis have trouble gaining metres?
