I do like Partington there and I would probably go that way but I can’t see us leaving Isa out the starting 13. I think that loose forward role really suits Partington because he’s not somebody who will smash out huge metres and it gives that bit of leeway in that regard but what he does bring is loads of energy, good line speed, aggression and his handling is pretty good. It’s not Lockers level but he’s pretty accurate in getting the ball to the halves or giving a line ball to one of the props. We’ve loads of options though and that’s great.

Lockers is a true modern day rugby league great but what makes him really special is the way he conducts himself off the field, he is simply a great guy and his place in the Wigan Hall of Fame is truly merited.

The best I’ve seen in a Wigan shirt, far surpassing his brother in law imo. If you had the chance to create the perfect rugby player it would look very much like Lockers.

Just devastated that he’s not getting a proper send off by the fans, hopefully the club can arrange something when this is all over.

Who replaces the great man as captain then? Faz? Bateman? Tommy if he stays on?

He’s like the crap comedian with only one catchphrase

To be fair, he was completely useless as captain at first. Never a bad player, but went missing when things went wrong. It was only when Madge took over that he became the all round leader he is now. He'll be sorely missed, but at least we've had a couple of years to prepare.

Outstanding player and captain who will be sadly missed by not only by supporters, but fellow players of Wigan and all other clubs.

yeah I read Rads book, a good insight about how things changed

The decision he made to release Terry Newton must rank as one of the worst decisions of all time.

Both made catastrophic decisions, Hughes' fall out with Edwards and Millward swapping Higham for Newton, the board should have stepped in!

I liked Higham but swapping him via Bradford for Newton was utterly indefensible

Tough one for the board to do. They have to be seen to back the coach.

Not when it is plainly wrong and stupid. The man at the top has to get involved when he can see it is detrimental to the Club.

I'm not knocking Higham, I think he was a good player who gave his all but he was not in the same league as Terry.
