Flopkins is the biggest mercenary in that team..
Sold Wigan out more than once.
NRL..Haha..i watched every game he played, 6 was his average against most, 4 average against the top teams, second season after injury average 2-3.
Russell Crowe told him at the Premier of Man of Steel not to go to NZ, but Moneykins has no loyalty, always chasing the money..

They have some quality players and a formidable pack but it just doesn’t seem to be working, on paper I would say they look a lot stronger than us, certainly today’s team.
I’m not sure what’s going on with their 1,6,7 and 3 of their best players are full backs.

How dare he consider the long term security of his family. Tomkins owes Wigan nothing, one of the best of the modern era and will go down as a club legend.
As for his time in the NRL, his first year stats matched those of this guy called Greg Inglis. Second year was hampered by injuries. He probably shouldn’t have gone to NZW but that’s up to him and takes nothing away from what he has done for us.

I think somebody needs to stand firm with Tomkins and get him to move in to the halves on a permanent basis because he can control the game from there and it opens up more freedom for Tony Gigot.

So you’re either bitter about how he’s treated us or you think he’s rubbish because you can’t call him Flopkins but then seemed to be miffed that he walked out on us twice.
When we look back on his career, we’ll be able to say we had his best years. He was absolutely unbelievable in his first 4 or 5 years for us and when a guy has played a huge role in winning you three Grand Finals and two challenge cups, he doesn’t owe you a great deal. He’s gone and got a huge deal at Catalans and good luck to him. He’s still a very good player but he isn’t worth what we were paying him anymore.

That’s what I would do, Gigot at 1,Sam at 7, Langi at 6. No idea why they signed Smith especially when they have Albert too.

| 2014 NRL Season
Greg Inglis 13 try’s and 16 assists
Billy Slater 12 try’s and 11 assists
Sam Tomkins 13 try’s and 13 assists
Looks pretty good to me (in a very poor team may I add).

Flopkins is one of the reasons we are now tightening our belt.
Maguire is the reason for our resurgence..not money grabbing flopkins..

All goes hand in hand, Tomkins needed Maguire and Maguire needed him and we were massively fortunate to have both of them.
I’d like to add that as somebody who’s been questioning him recently, they both needed Ian Lenagan, who is the single biggest reason for our resurgence from 2010 onwards. I may have my doubts about how he’s currently running things but I’ll always be thankful that he bought the club.

I Love Lenners mate, the best thing for WRLFC in a long time, Lenners got Nobby in to steady the ship and took us to the new level when madge came in.
We didn't need Moneykins we just needed Madge, he turned all our players into winners, don't you remember 2010

Maguire was a genius and turned many players around but Tomkins was the focal point of it all. The ‘move’ everyone talked about was deadly because Tomkins was absolutely outstanding and comfortably the best player in the league at that time.
There’s a debate to be had about his time in the NRL or his 2nd Wigan spell but there’s no debate on his first Wigan spell. The lad was a joy to watch and goes down in Wigan folklore.

Exactly.
I didn't understand the booing of him today.
He's been a fantastic servant for us (much more so in his first stint where he was the stand out player in Super League and really should have taken home the Man of Steel trophy several times) and owes us nothing.
At the end of the day he's tried to better himself in the NRL and, on his return (after three years), we've disagreed about his value to Wigan and let him leave for big money elsewhere.
That's just professional sport - it's a business and players have a very short span of time to make the money that has to last them a lifetime.

I watched him play every game too. He had a reasonable first season in a so so team but began the next with a seeming lack of interest and intensity which increased as the season progressed. I was so disappointed when he left the NRL as he had arrived with such super star status.
Since I arrived here back in 1968 I have always looked forward to watching players from the English game game compete over here. I would rank Sam Tomkin's time here as my biggest ever disappointment.

No wonder it increased as the season went on, he only played 13 games.
I’m not saying his time was a raving success, it clearly wasn’t but a lot of that was down to injury and that’s a real shame. He started to suffer knee problems in 2013 and I’m sure he’s not been totally right since. He’s lost the vast majority of his pace nowadays and had to reinvent himself. Had he gone to the NRL a couple of years earlier I think it would’ve been a totally different story and we’d have seen him have two very good years rather than one good year and one ruined by injury.

His was playing behind a pack that got battered most weeks as well and coming from fullback couldn't influence the attack as well as he could have playing at 6 where he should have been.

He simply chose the wrong team to play for. Had he followed Maguire and gone to Souths he would have been phenomenal (obviously injuries permitting).
