When Huddersfield beat Saints next week we will be eighth and only 3 points in front of ninth

9th place are pretty rubbish ATM though, probably the team in worst nick right now. Going away to France in a few games time will be Wigan's crunch fixture possibly. Catalans and the other bottom three do have a much worst points difference though that will act as an extra point they have to make up.

Worst thing you can do is beat Wire this week. I would say the winner will have less chance of making the 8.

Silly as that may sound with our current state, I believe that's true if we get most of the team back and don't lose any more to new injuries! With Tomkins, Bateman, Farrell, Lockers, Gelling and Powell due this week or next, and possibly Clubb and Manfredi later on, a lot of the others who are clearly playing with knocks can get a much needed breather.

I think we would need to go on a 12 game unbeaten streak to make the top 4 now unfortunately, and even then it would be close. The season now is all about avoiding the middle 8s and maybe an outside chance of the challenge cup

To win the SL this year would be an even greater achievement than last year and I still think we only need to finish 4th and the playoffs / GF would look after themselves. There's a chance for the team to make legends of themselves if they can go on a run, I feel we'll come up just short though. We just need to start f***ing winning again!

The 8 means zero to us if we're not in the top 4 and with that looking unlikely, this becomes our only chance of a trophy so it's as far away from the worst thing we could do as is possible.

Hilariously we are still 3rd favourites for the GF behind Cas and Leeds. Looking at the fixture lists, the next 3-4 rounds look like a mini round robin for all of the teams above us. Which could work in our favour with them all taking points off each other. Hudds, Widnes, Catalan needs to be 3 wins.

We've just got to look after ourselves and see what happens around us. I think we need to go all out for the cup as that is the most realistic chance of silverware. With a few bodies back I'd hope we'd be ok for the 8, after the last two losses I think the 4 could be out of reach, stranger things have happened though.

We are currently 7 points behind 4th spot. We also have a negative points difference, unlike all the teams above us. That's almost equivalent to another point. Wakey and Saints have two and one point's start on us respectively in the chase for 4th, and Saints have a game in hand. Seems to me we'd have to win all our remaining games, and have other results go our way, to make the 4.

Looking at the squad we now have available, I'd say we could still make the 4 but it will take an unbelievable run of wins and obviously a lot of other results would have to be in our favour. If we can keep a relatively healthy squad, I wouldn't write us off just yet!

I'm not writing us off either, but it does look a long shot.

Hopefully we can throw everything in to this next few weeks before the split and reassess the situation at that point. To stand a chance I think we need to the lot before the round 23 cut off. If we get them though we could still do it as I'm sure the gap will be reduced by at least 3 or 4 points at that stage and that then starts to give you some belief and something to aim for.

Still pretty confident about getting there, but it will rely on us getting our season back on track pretty much straight away now we've got some players back.

Leeds at home is our only game against one of the top sides before the split, so you would hope that we'll make up some ground going into the middle 8s. After that, teams will start beating each other so, provided our form is up there, we could rise up the table pretty quickly.

On paper, we have a favourable run of games coming up now. Our closest rivals for the top 4 look likely to to be dropping points running in to the Super 8's. Tricky test on Friday for us though.

Hudds away is going to be a tough game. They've hit a bit of form recently and are on the up. As long as we don't pick up a load more injuries I'd hope we have enough to beat Widnes at home, Catalan away is never easy though they've been struggling, it will be interesting to see what difference if any McNamara makes. Wire at home is always difficult whatever their form is and Leeds are back on song this year. Not an easy run in by any means, we should be aiming for at least 4 wins if we ant a shot at moving into the top 4 in the super 8's though I suspect we may fall short in that.

Hudds are in fine form. There's an injury doubt over Mamo apparently and he's been the catalyst for them. He looks ideally suited to superleague and if he does play we'll have it all on to contain him.

Now we actually have bodies back, I've changed my mind, we will make the 8, question is can we get close enough to 4th before the 8's start ?
We're as good as playing knockout football now until the end of the season, big ask, but here's hoping.
