I'm a rugby fan over a Wigan fan. We have to promote the game, Wigan in the final would not be a good advert for our game the way we currently play.
The whole idea of a forum is to express opinion. Not sure what yours is but stating I should be a coach (which I am of a cracking u11s team) is a bit daft. Offer a counter rather than talk silly.

| Result aside, yet again we have no idea, no options, no doubt in the hull players as to where the ball was going, easy to read and predictable. It's boring, it's ineffective, it's frustrating and is now getting embarrassing, it's also getting insulting that the club expect the fans to pay good money taking their families to watch this crap over and over, week after week.

| All around good effort from both sides with plenty of desire. Penalty count was about even, territory and possession probably the same. Could have gone either way but congratulations to Hull, i won't grumble about the result because i would say that solely on attacking they deserved the win. Defences pretty even. Surprised Houghton didn't get man of the match, i thought he was outstanding.
On to us, Matty Smith is the easiest place to start. Kicking is dreadful as we know but that goal kick was the icing on the cake. Horrendous. His passing is a non event, a half back who can't pass or kick, hmmmmmm!!! His suicide passes make me cringe.
Sarginson is just awful. One trick pony who has long been sussed out.
Bateman badly and rarely off form tonight attacking with ball in hand.
Lockers was very quiet for a game of that magnitute.
Manfredi made an error but that is very rare but i hardly ever saw him on the ball and never saw him running it back
Powell, for all his tackling and endeavour he just doesn't do enough.
Tierney showed a lot of signs of greenness although he is considered a pro now, Running the ball so close to the touchline on the first tackle and then into touch and where was he when Hull went in on the left? Tomkins raced past him to attempt the tackle.
The ineptness going forward was so clear to see, we need a serious playmaker at 7 next season. Seriously lacking in that department. Soward anyone??? Disappointed to be out but beaen by a better side and hopefully something will happen in the summer and Wigan will go back to playing rugby again.

| Quote ="NickyKiss"Lazy me- Smith is diabolical. He cannot pass a ball and must quite simply be the worst halfback ever to grace a Wigan jersey.
Thinking me- We can't keep running 'the move' when we have such a weak link at its heart! To play in such a structured manner you need players to feed the danger man with clockwork like accuracy. If we haven't got them men them the coaching staff need to earn their money and cone up with plan B.
I'm always calm and cool and I've believed all year that we'll be fine with a full team but the trust is running low.
I'm baffled as to who I blame tbh, the chicken (Wane) or the Egg (Smith). Some tough words are needed this week down at training (by a few people).'"
Nicky we are totally useless.
This is the worst side side for over 30 years.
The blame is Lenegan and KR.
KR should be gone tonight and SW as soon as a replacement can be found.
Lenegan should offer his shares to the public.
A club that is so inept it deserves a coach that is totally and utterly clueless.
We lost tonight and I was glad. Who the hell wants such a joyless bunch of wrestlers playing at Wembley?

| This is how I feel this season. Sick of seeing the same tactics week after week.
We have been figured out and this has nullified our "attack", for us to have the 2nd worst points scored over the season is embarrassing, regardless of injuries. The coaching system has turned the squad into robots intent on wrestling and smashing teams into submission.
I'm bored. I was bored last season and even more so this season.
Due to work commitments it's becoming increasingly difficult to commit to attending matches and I'm seriously considering not renewing my season ticket next year. I'm just not being entertained.
I'm not the only one, our average attendance has dropped from around 15k to just over 12k this season, I believe that figure is inflated too compared to bums on seats. Many a game the attendance has been given out as higher than in the stadium. I feel many have stopped going mid season.
You can't blame them really.

Hull played as well as they needed to. They, like most teams now, had us sussed from minute 1and didn't need to do anything special to beat a totally boring and inept team.

| First of all the better team won, fully deserved Hull win. I was fuming last night with our attack and I still don't feel anything different this morning. The attack broke down time and time again with Matty Smith. I have always stuck up for Smith and appreciated his role in the team but last night the last straw. To miss that kick to go 2 points behind was criminal, that would have meant Hull would have had to defend and not give a penalty away, which automatically speeds up the ruck. Then a few minutes later we have huge numbers on our right and one of his passes goes to ground and the attack breaks down. Hugely frustrating, he seems a nice bloke but nice blokes don't win you games.
I, too like many other fans, want to see attacking rugby. This season I can't really remember more than a few games where we have played what we see. I'm getting bored going to games and feel I have only been entertained this year due to the closeness of some games. The attack is so easy to defend but yet we're only 4 points from being at Wembley and 2 points off the top of the league. This team are performing well below their potential. If we don't win anything this year, I do feel Wane has to go but sadly can't see Radlinski or Lenegan making such a decision.

| I'm going to buck the trend here.
That was a GOOD semi-final, tight, competitive and fierce. Both sides defended really well (2 tries each). Wigan lost the game on two pieces of poor play. The pass for the Tierney try, no need for it to be passed forward, it was a walk in. Then the Dom Manfredi dropped ball. If you wanted any winger in that position it would be him but he spilled it. In all the time watching him from academy level up I can't recall him ever dropping a simple catch like that before. We don't make those two errors and we win the game, simple as that.
I enjoyed the game, it was a real contest that could have gone either way. I'll watch it again over the weekend, maybe I'll change my mind.

If this game was a one off, a tight tense semi final were teams were too scared of losing to try and win I might agree. Fact is though it's a continuation of the last 12 months, boring, unimaginative, predictable and monotonous.

Do you think Hull were much more adventurous than Wigan? As I said if those two poor bits of play didn't happen Wigan win the game. Wane will also be very disappointed with the defensive effort for the Hull 1st try. Up to that we'd wrapped the ball up really well in the tackle but for that try we fell off a couple .
Good play or poor defense? I suppose it depends on how you see the game.

Sometimes the game looks different when you watch it back on TV; I've got it recorded at home if I can bear to sit through it. But watching live, I didn't think it was a good contest; I thought Hull, whilst not fantastic, were vastly the better side. Far from 'smashing' opponents, I thought Wigan were dominated physically, Hull are a big size, Talanoa in particular caused us problems. But that was the least of it. Houghton and Sneyd directed their attack effectively and we had no-one doing the same. As so often, we rely on getting a bit of individual skill from George Williams to bring us points. That's not how you win rugby matches against decent opponents. Williams was one of our better performers on a desperately poor night, and we all know he is a talented lad, but he deserves someone better alongside him.
So Gildart carries the can for the disallowed try? I'd have too see that back, but I'd be a bit sorry for him if that is the case, like GW he is a skillful young player, and if our 'attacks' die out with him being left with nowhere to go, that is hardly his fault. He's certainly more of a centre than Sarginson will ever be.

Defensively we were ok but every time we were near the Hull line we had totally no idea how to score - second half there were far too many players stood around leaving it to others to try and score. Smith was woeful , Sarginson his usual disinterested ball dropping non-passing self, Manfredi is a total waste in this team, the rest just clueless. Lockers looks completely not fit, only Williams looked like he could do anything and he is trying too much on his own due to the shocking level of mediocrity around him. That was the third totally inept attacking performance in a row from this team (one of many this season)
Something needs to change if Wigan are to do anything in the play-offs - otherwise the season will just peter out in a sea of dross.
I would start with dropping Sarginson (either Bateman or Higginson in), Smith (Shorrocks in) ,if we had someone I would also be tempted to drop Lockers as well.As for the rest s some serious backside kicking is in order.

We tackle well, we put the effort in, there's just no craft or imagination there at all. I don't really care how Hull played, I look at how we played and have we got that group of players we have playing to their potential. My opinion, even with the injuries, is that we haven't even come close. Yes we've got them defending, yes the effort is there, but we can't trouble defences.
I think that Hull, had they needed to could have been more expansive and taken more risks. I dont think we know how, when we try we make mistakes.

Backside kicking is all that SW can deliver and it delivers nothing.
This season is a write off unless SW has some form of epiphany on the road to Orrell and lets the players play which won't happen.
We have been declining since 2012 in terms of performance on and off the field.
The Bateman affair, London adventure, Tomkins incessant whinging, late changes in fixtures and SW constantly bemoaning referees as if every decision goes against are reflective of a poorly managed business with very little if any leadership from the top.
People keep mentioning "the move". We haven't got a move we offer absolutely zero in attack. We are on a par with the Noble era i.e. lots of endeavour but very little output.
IL needs to get his cheque book out and bullet KR, SW and the training squad. We look unfit and tired after only a couple of minutes play and run out of gas in virtually every major game. Last night senior players like SOL, Smith, Flower and Mossop were poor as they have been all season. All 4 need to go but none of them will as they are untouchable or on crazy money (Mossop £100k).
The club needs major surgery I just hope that IL has the appetite to carry this out because otherwise it will be a slow and painful decline to middle 8's or whatever they are called. This situation has been developing over several years and I for one am not surprised that we are incapable of even delivering a competent all round game.
