| Leeds for me are still favourites for the GF.
They seem to be doing the same as what we did in our double season I.e we folded after the CC final and could have finished top (loss at home to Cas coincidently stopped us) but turned it on in knock out football.
Let's not forget that any of the top four teams only need to win two on the bounce to win the comp. Everyone of them can easily produce that level of form

| My prediction is that Hudds will maintain their good form and beat Leeds. Wigan will beat Cas and Saints will beat Wire. So the semis will be Wigan v Leeds and Hudds v Saints. Wigan v Hudds final? On Super 8's form Hudds are the team to beat.

| The best scenario would be us and Leeds win and we play Saints at home. Anything else and I would struggle to have any confidence in our semi final.

| Just can't see Leeds winning at Huddersfield and maybe next Friday could be a game too far for Castleford. Although Wire had a good win today, a win at Saints does seem beyond them.
If Leeds lose and we win the the LLS shield is ours.

| Could have been chaos this next week if all 8 teams had been closer, as it is the Leeds v Huddersfield game should be a belter and wouldn't like to choose between them so it's either Leeds on 41 points or Huddersfield on 40,
The way Cas played last week I wonder why they aren't higher than they are and we could easily be out enthused by them so a loss to them would leave us on 39
The only game I would put money on is the Saints v Wire game and I know Wire put 48 past Catalans yesterday but it sounds like they just enjoyed themselves and had an end of era party - there was a great quote in the local paper from a Wire fan this week which said "Nice gesture of Tony Smith to shake the hands of all the players after the match, or is he saying hello as they are playing as though they have never seen a coach" . I expect Saints to walk away with that one and end up on 40 points so the bookies will be busy next weekend that's for sure.
If any of the games are drawn that will make it even closer so I'm glad I'm not a coach!

| People talk about Saints hanging in games but opposition teams need to learn to kill them off by taking their opportunities. We had loads last week and Wire have had loads tonight and no amount of scrambling would have stopped them if both sides had been more clinical.
Walmsley back will make them a different proposition for sure but if he's not I expect any of the other three teams to make more chances then them but if they don't take them then Saints will hang in and pinch their semi.

| Walmsley won't improve Saints' left side defense. I don't care how good a halfback is defensively as long as they're not a turnstile. However, Walsh is the worst defender I've seen since Ben Walker.
It was a great game to watch, though.

Another very good finish from Swift tonight.

| My money is still on Leeds to win the comp.
Granted they've been a different side since the CC final but I can't see Sinfield and especially Peacock retiring without a proper fight.

Leeds will win their remaining three games and therefore the comp IMO.
Their recent mini bad run will help them ultimately IMO because them being written off by the likes of Phil Clarke will put fire in their bellies. They'll complete the treble.

Same here.
FWIW I obviously want us to win the GF BUT - I also think Leeds deserve it as they've been consistent enough over the full season.
IMO what's happened to Leeds confirms my suspicions that winning the CC will prove to be a poisoned chalice under the Super 8's. There's always a lull after winning it that is naturally at odds with the new format. I have no doubt in my mind Leeds would have already secured top spot under the old rules. They'd have picked up two more points playing a Wakey, Widnes or Salford etc.
Rightly or wrongly it's an idea that's worked imo.

Well I've tried pointing that out to some of our more negative posters over on SouthStander but some don't want to drag themselves away from the edge of the cliff at this moment.
Had Saints beat us in the CC semi and they'd have been the ones going to Wembley then I think it's obvious that the last three weeks would've been quite different. Not only would've Leeds have probably already secured the LLS, but Saints might've been caught by Cas and not made the playoffs at all.

Well, once again, as noted before, last season I would have agreed with you (as would the vast majority of Wigan fans). This year it doesn't seem so clear cut.

I know not a lot of people care about the LLS, but surely there has to be more credibility to it than wanting another team to win it in order to get a favourable semi final? At least it guarantees qualification to the WCS.
Bottom line is we need to win tonight to guarantee the home semi final. We've proven we can beat Leeds, Saints and Hudds at the DW and I'd fancy us to do it again, plus with the way the Super 8s fixtures have fallen we haven't had a big game at home for a few months now.

I agree we need to win tonight, don't want any chance of us having to go away to Leeds in the semis, that's the only outcome where I'd expect us to lose (given we have only won there once in five attempts under Wane). LLS I'm not bothered about, the top four are more even that ever IMO and it is right that we decide who is best by seeing who can beat the best in knock out games rather than who slipped up the least during the season
