Quote ="DaveO"Who needs a queue? Did Carmont form part of an orderly queue?
Did I moan when we signed Sam? Well you tell me.
It should have stood out like a sore thumb one way or the other given it was him we signed.
You read what you want to read. It's got nothing to do with the salary cap. What Gelling has shown so far doesn't warrant a four year contract IMO. IMO = In My Opinion. Am I the only one on here who gets slagged off for expressing one different to the mainstream?
Well yes I know I am but I reckon, long term, I think I'm right more often than I am wrong.'"
Quoting the Carmont signing shows just how out if touch you are, totally different time with different cap rules and a much lower market value on overseas players.
Gelling is still young, 24, and is improving every season. He was recommended to Wigan by Dean Bell and the Iro's (what would they know about centres?). Whilst clearly he has areas to improve on he is improving and becoming a better player. On his day in SL he is almost unplayable due to his size and strength.
A 4 year deal gives him the security to continue working on his game, it gives us some consistency in our outside backs and increases the potential value of our asset should the NRL come knocking, as, as you often say contracts are not worth the paper they are written on.
It seems to me and others that you have become extremely negative boardering on bitter towards the club for some reason, either that it you have just become very negative generally. The club doesn't seem to be able to do anything right, and whilst they are your opinions I think more and more people are taking them with a pinch of salt because of what could be construed as an agenda against the clubs management for some reason. I'm not suggesting this is the case but it could be interpreted that way.
