| Is it just me who thinks Lauaki spends more time rolling around on the floor than actually on his feet?
He's nothing more than a fearsome looking teddy bear.
At times he has done an ok job for us but last nights performance was comical it was so poor.

I'm almost positive he's another 12 months on his contract.
Hope i'm wrong. Never understood his signing and other than the odd good game has been largely unimpressive!

| Would rather see Andy Powell on the pitch than Lauaki and tbh even Mossop from how he's played this season. At least Powell looked enthusiastic and ran with abit of aggression in his couple of appearances. Our starting props have to be Flower and Crosby for me next season with Dudson and Powell or Hopkins coming off the bench.
Does Lauaki take up a quota spot or is he classed as a south sea islands player now he's switched to Tonga??

Even if he did and as you say your not defending him but it does not give him licence to stamp on a players leg twice. Had impact been made both old have suffered career ending injuries.

| I would like to ask SW what he actually saw in Eric when he brought him from Hull my friends in Hull were doing treble twirlies when they knew we were signing him, I just don't know what he brings to the team, my other half reckons they sent "Blind Pugh" to scout him

I agree with you.
If anyone thinks that Mossops performances over the last month have been any good then they are just blinkered. Lauaki has had a decent game against HKR something Mossop did not. Mossop is an automatic choice for Wane but for me both Lauaki and him should not be in the side for the CC final.
Crosby, Taylor, Flower and toss a coin between Burke and Dudson for the bench spot given that Hull are very strong at second row. Mossop did the same last season started well and then standards dropped. He is one player going to the NRL who tbh i am not bothered about losing. We have better players than him now. His head and heart is gone and his performance on Friday was nothing short of shocking for an NRL class player apparently.

Theres always the choice of playing HH in the front row if needs be and that could accomodate an extra second rower and add a little extra speed.

That's a waste HH is a great player and we have 4 good props and 1 who brain farts a lot and 1 who thinks he is already on holiday. If Mossop starts to play well i will be the first to admit it but this season has the same pattern as last season and around this time both Lima and Mossop standards dropped.

| Lauaki's problem is that he did not come with a good reputation, many were critical of the signing, and he has not produced the goods... But it's equally accurate to say that Mossop has been less than convincing ...

Mossop has been FAR better than Lauaki. He gets criticism because he's set himself high standards and people don't think he's living up to them. Even so, he's still offering a lot to the team and the work he does seems to go unnoticed. He's capable of better, but still performs well enough to make him an important part of the team.

| Quote ="DaveO"Me either. Never have. The thread singing his praises after the HKR looks very premature now. Tonight was far more typical. He really is garbage.
Wane is daft enough to pick him IMO thinking maybe because it's Hull he'd be all fired up. IMO that is the way Wane thinks, passion before cold hard logic. So a ban would relieve of him that decision.
'"
the thread after the KR game was perfectly justified given the performance he put in on the day, as he convincingly outplayed the 3 other props.
you are now over-reacting in a manner which you enjoy berating others for.
most people have acknowledged that last season he out performed peoples expectations of him. this season - he has not played much, but has certainly not been the worst player on the field. he was silly on friday (not sure how much as impact his head injury at the end of the 1st half had on it).
he will suffer the consequences, which will probably be a missed opportunity to play in the Final. enough said
his discipline is pretty good (certainly better than the welsh lads), but obviously that does not fit your arguments.
he hasnt played much in 2013 (5 appearances), however he has only 1 penalty against him this season, 1 error, 11 tackle busts, 95% tackle completion.

Agree with this. Given what I assumed were extra minutes he had to play due to Eric's head knock I thought Mossop went ok. Mind you, I don't let the fact that he is leaving cloud my judgement of determine my opinion. IMO he is the best prop we have incl flower.

Scott Taylor - 85m from 15 carries - 19 tackles, 0 missed
Lee Mossop - 73m from 14 carries - 33 tackles, 4 missed
Hame Lauaki - 54m from 14 carries - 23 tackles, 0 missed
Dom Crosby - 26m from 8 carries - 18 tackles, 0 missed
Taylor was our best prop against Hull KR. Lauaki was ineffective in attack, but he made a big hit and put a lot of effort in for 20 minutes in defence.
If he puts that effort in with any sort of frequency Lauaki will be a good player. He doesn't though. Never did at Hull, hasn't done so far at Wigan either. He's had good games, but far too few. He's had bad games too, but mostly very average games.
He averages 66 metres per game and 15 tackles. That's not impressive. Last season it was 73 metres per game and 15 tackles. For Hull in 2011 he averaged 70 metres per game and 12 tackles per game. In other words, for the last three years he's looking fairy consistent. Nothing special as a metre maker, very little work in defence.
Last season Lauaki played 6 games where he made more than 90 metres. It's a decent effort but they were always followed by very disappointing games where he was ineffective. In short, Lauaki is capable of the occasional good game but is inconsistent and has a lot of games where he doesn't match up to his fellow props.
Ben Flower averages 90 metres per game and 22 tackles; Mossop 97 metres per game and 21 tackles; Crosby 78 metres per game and 19 tackles; Dudson 67 metres per game and 17 tackles.
He doesn't match up to any of our senior props this year and his stats are not too dissimilar to those from the previous 2 years so we can assume it's a trend.
Lauaki is 29 - our senior prop. He's not playing like one and never has. He's got good games in him for sure, but they don't come often enough compared to Mossop, Flower, Taylor and even Crosby.

Are you sure about this ?Big Eric is destined to be allowed to participate in other actions not really knowing the outcome , I personally think he will achieve what Shaun Wane is asking and will succumb to pander to the crowd more each game .

Less than one minute before that concussion he deliberately attempted to stamp on Scott grixs leg- luckily for Scott he missed as he happened to slightly move his leg - but considering he did it openly in front of the cameras it appears as if his decision making is just as diabolical when not concussed.
I was disgusted when Keith mason did it against you - the game is hard enough without players going out to deliberately injure or cause harm.

Nonsense. I am not "berating others" merely pointing out a player who has been at best average and often poor didn't go from that to being a player who should be picked for Wembley on the basis of one game. As the Hudds game proved. In any case looking at the thread again it wasn't all universal praise.
Quote most people have acknowledged that last season he out performed peoples expectations of him. '"
Where? When?
As I said even in the thread you started there were several contrary opinions and so I think you are stretching it a bit to suggest this is the case.

I have not singled out his discipline as an issue in any of the recent threads. I have confined myself to commenting on his ability as a player and IMO he is poor. He doesn't have much impact when he takes the ball in, his defence is all over the place and his "aggression" is all show with arms and legs flailing about in the tackle. Craig Smith and Quentin Pongia were props with genuine aggression and Laukai isn't remotely on the same page as them in that regard. He has an offload but that is about it.
Quote please do not let the facts get in the way of a reasoned debate and argument'"
You should try that yourself.
