What games are we talking about, last 2 home games London and Cats, never any atmosphere, last 2 away Cas and Leeds, no roof never much of an " atmosphere" even though plenty traveled, let's wait till Friday I am sure it will be fine.

Each to their own - I like a good atmosphere & a bit of singing, but the absence of the drum is a godsend. I doubt very much whether the atmosphere on Friday will be any less vibrant than it's been any other year.

Anyway, it's never been the same since we left Central Park...

Were the flags not up on Saturday? Don't remember seeing them on tv.

Was this a H&S issue getting them up with the weather or are the people involved with them some of those dis-illusioned with the apparent "hi-jacking" of their good intensions for the "Brigantes"?

Me and convoy had erection issues on Friday morning due to the cold.
We postponed until Saturday a.m but we took the view that it was too risky because quite rightly as Conroy put it we "didn't want to risk getting frost bite whilst in the middle of an erection".

With regard to the other question, dis-illusioned is not quite the right way of putting it.

As previously posted there was a difference of opinion around 15/18 months ago and we made it clear to the club that the erection of the flags on the gantry was the ONLY thing that we were involved in. The rest of the stuff was being organised separately.
That continues to be the case and I can only say the club have continued to help/support us and to be honest it is they who have requested that we continue on a couple of occasions when at times both me and Conroy have felt like packing it in but I think by the continuation of the gantry flags at this time it shows that the 2were not 1and the same.

My flags have been missing from the gantry the last 2 games. I think jimmy Birts have been missing to, so that's at least 8.

A couple of the flags that used to go on the gantry were taken to be used in the stands, Your flag deffo was one of them.



Not 100% sure here but there were around 6 not erected at the last game (Conroys got a better memory than me) but were up for previous games. Not sure if a couple that were taken by individuals to other away games have been returned???

The number we put up hasnt changed for the last 3 games, it was just I had some emails/calls from people stating that some of theirs hadn't been used for a few games so we decided to change them round as we didnt have time to do them all.
It's our way of Squad rotation to keep them fit for the Business end of the season!

Pretty sure, time permitting and bearing in mind it will probably be after Conroys done a 12 hours shift and I've used another days annual leave at work, we'll be able to get most if not all of them up this Thursday (Bearing in mind maximum we can get up us around 22 & last 3/4 games we've only managed to get around 15/16 up in time).

Yeah it's a bit of a nightmare having to book time off work. I had something like 9 half days off last season to set up the displays in the stand on Fridays.

Here's my take on this subject for what it's worth.

Atmosphere isn't all about who can sing the best/loudest songs throughout the match, (I used to tell my kids the reason for the singing at football is that they've nowt else to do - 'yeah dad, we know give it a rest').
If the singing does get going I enjoy it but it can't last because there's always something on the pitch to take most peoples' attention. By the way, do the musicians at Sheddingley pay to get in 'cos I can't imagine they get to see much of the match.

I read some years ago that the average age of the Wigan fans is 48, though that was probably just the season ticket holders. The singers are generally youngsters and I can't knock them for it.

For me the atmoshere is never better than when the Wigan lads are on their goal line repelling a good opposition set after set. That's when the noise gets genuinely inspiring.

There's never been an atmosphere at the DW with or without the Brigantes.

The North stand is accustically the loudest stand with its solid roof wheras the South stand is partially glass and the noise coming from there is diminished by this.
