Never a winger in memory of man, want to see him given a chance inside but apparently needs alot of work in defence.

When Josh Charnley first broke into the first team he was all over the place in defence. Remember Josh and Joel in defence, they were a nightmare!
Now Josh and Goulding looked really secure defensively.
That's due to the coaches sticking with Charnley.
I'm sure if they stick with Gelling he will come good in not too long a period of time. How many first team games has he played now? Three, Four?

As long as he didn't poop all over the changing room, he's going in the right direction.

He's proving to be a class act with a huge work rate, you can really tell hes enthusiastic and wants to play. He's certainly making the most of Pat's unfortunate injury I hope he keeps playing like this because he could develop into a sensational player.

He needs to be more direct and back himself when going for the line, it cost him a couple of tries last week and almost cost him a couple tonight.

Agree with this. Made hard work of the tries he scored and should have had another. He also looked like he had legs of lead after about 60 minutes which would suggest he's still not up to speed, fitness wise, at this level.

He did, but that was actually when he had the least space with which to work in and might have tried to cut inside. He's a work in progress at the moment for me and I'd like to see King get a few games as well over the next few months with Pat out.

Had a text from a Leeds fan who said that he thought Gelling was sh*ite and that 7 disallowed tries in 2 games is woeful.

Whilst I agree with the last part, I think we need to remember that he isn't a winger and so isn't used to finishing like one. His workrate however is superb and he gets himself in the right position.

Give him time and I think he'll be a cracker.

Whether it is 5 or 7 that is woeful finishing really and is something that I hadnt thought of tbh. Nearly all of them were very scorable too and missing chances like that will cost the team in close games.

Just going off what was said in the text. Like I said though, the guy isn't a winger so can't be expected to score wingers tries.

If this lad improves we could have a world beater. He will no doubt be coached over his errors tonight, but for me he played well.

I just can't wait to see him at centre, you can tell he has some serious skills, which as a winger you won't get as much benefit from. Nice footwork too.

Agreed. I can't help but feel that Pat would have scored those two tonight that were (rightly) disallowed. Lots of potential, but still a long way to go.

I thought he had quite a good game,but he does seem to make a drama of the last two yards to the line.
He once tried 3 sidesteps from a couple of yards out when it would have been easier to just use his bulk.
Also the one where he tried to dive in and his arm went in touch,he should have stayed upright and backed his size and weight to carry the defender over.
Only time will tell if he has the brains and foresight to be a centre,a winger is more of an instinctive player whilst a centre as to be thinking all the time.
This seems to be the case with Goulding,he spent all his junior years as a centre and now that he as the chance that grounding is coming to the fore.

Yes he's made a couple of errors but he's still a young lad. I've seen more than enough already to know that his potential is absolutely massive. Can't wait to see him progress in this team. He's clearly a centre so at this stage im not too concerned about his finishing.

Gelling is far from the finished article but he has massive potential - this lad could be world class, he's big and quick enough to trouble any defence.

Really looking forward to watching him develop.
