No i think all teams should play to the same rules in the same cup competition

Its already handicapped your allowed 5 overseas players and us 1

And CC teams budget has been cut that much this year we rely on DR players, then we can't play them.

Wigan were runaway favourites for this one but heroic Featherstone gave their Super league opponents one mighty scare before the Warriors could get their name in the hat for the next round of the Challenge Cup.

Only a second-half 36-point comeback secured the win for the Warriors, who fielded only Sam Tomkins to make the game fairer for their lower league opposition.

Tomkins said: "I want to apologise to the Wigan fans for the first half. But once my team coach was fixed and I was able to get off the motorway and to the stadium for the second half things were looking up."

In that case, why don't we also make a rule only allowing SL teams to field a team of the same value to their Championship opponents? Forget the nationality issue. If Wigan can't field Hock, Tomkins, Mossop, Farrell etc, then you'll have a real chance.

In fact, why don't we go the whole hog and prevent the SL side from training in their own expensively-built faciltiies in the weeks leading up to the game? Why don't we make them train on a local school pitch?

Why don't we also deprive them of all SL-standard training staff, including head-coach, conditioner, etc?

Why don't we pour twenty pints of ale down their gullets the night before, and make them eat fish and chips and MacDonalds all week? Then we'll have a really, really level playing field.

I didn't see you lot offering not to play your full time players and ex SL players against Hunslet Old Boys when you were quite happy to put 86 past them.

So... Fev play in a league which has a different overseas player rule from the SL and some of their fans want to impose that rule on Wigan as a SL team...?

Does that mean we have to cut our players' pay the week before the game down to what we would pay them if they were subject to the SC that applies to Fev?

If they were playing amateurs then presumably Featherstone's players didn't get a match fee, salary that week or other payment for their services - that would be fair.

But they played the game UNDER THE SAME RULES.

How can a team withdraw all of it's professionals when they play an amateur team? They wouldn't have any players.

There is nothing in the rules stopping Old Boys playing full time pros though is there, there is however a rule that says we can only play 1 overseas player

Boo bloody hoo. Super League teams have an unfair advantage, its not fair. Life isn't fair, but instead of crying about it just get on with it. Is not as if a club outside of Super League is going to win the comp anyway so trying to dictate team selection is pointless and embarrassing.

I'm argueing too, and I raised exactly the same point last year. In fact, I did an article for Drop Goal Rugby League on it. justarugbyfan published it for me.

But seriously though, if your trying to claim that it's only the 5 overseas players instead of 1 that's the big advantage, not the fact that the salary cap is so much bigger, I'm failing to see how your argument could be taken seriously?

how about we go back to 1895...... It aint going to happen, it's called progression and the lower level clubs should aspire to improve. The cup shouldn't be dumbed down to the level of the weakest in it. Some of the lower league teams get their own "wembley" if they get to the 4th round and get drawn against the so called glamour clubs from superleague. it is a day for their players and fans to cherish.....

If you were a fan of a smaller club then maybe you'd realise how important the Challenge Cup is in the early rounds. If we upset a Super League club and get a payday in the last 16 or the quarters it could be the difference between a profit and loss at the end of the year financially.

And yes, I know it would make a difference, for example, Leigh played Catalans last year and ran them extremely close, would we have won that game if they could only play one of their overseas players, in my opinion yes.

Did a lot of fans not turn up because they thought it would be a massacre, yes.

Would they have turned up if we had a fighting chance, yes.

Did the fans know we wern't going to win the cup, yes.

Are Wigan fans the most spoiled, blinkered and narrow minded in the game, yes.
