| all this whining and appealling to the ref is out of order IMO, be it Briers, Wello, Mona or Sam. And if you draw your 'own' square in the air - automatic 10 minutes. Its getting as bad a wendyball and Torres waiving his imaginary cards at the ref.

Have to agree with this. It is one thing I don’t like about football and it is creeping into our game more and more. I can’t understand why refs rarely penalise for dissent nowadays. For me they should to stop this. Not having a go at Saints because we’re as bad as anyone. But as an example, Wellens for me should have been sin binned for dissent for that try of Richards, or James Graham’s foul mouth rant at the 4th official during the blood bin incident. I understand his passion but we can’t have that in our game if you ask me.
Back to the game. We can’t blame the ref for yesterdays defeat. Didn’t watch the Catalans v Hull KR game but the refereeing in all the other games for me was fine.
Charnley’s was a try for me. He was short but Saints somehow contrived to get him over the line. Should have been a try but we didn’t play well enough to say we deserved the win. Credit to Saints for their performance yesterday. Still think that if we play to our potential we should beat Saints but don’t think that we will win the GF even if we get there.

You are joking? Cummins is No1 Saints fan? Is that what you are saying? Surely you know Cummins is an out and out mad Wigan fan. Ask anyone who knew him from when he was a teacher.
Or have I misunderstood your post?

| cummins is in no way a Wigan fan.
The Charnley try was a try, the saints players pulled him over the line and he got the ball down. He gave a decision as if he'd been held up when he hadn't. Had it been determined a double movement it should have been a saints penalty.
That decision probably changed the game for us.

Yes, it wasn't a try. His momentum had been stopped, if you watch closely he makes a 2nd effort by using his legs to drive himself over the line.
It should have been a pen to saints for a double movement.

| Not seen the Wellens try in the 2nd half again, but it looked a very clear knock on by Roby the play before that never got picked up.

Watch it then. Roby attempted to pass the ball it hit Tomkins and Saints regained possession.
At first I was screaming for six more tackles but on reflection it did not appear that Tomkins played at the ball so play on was the correct call.

Cumming is definitely not a Wigan fan. Years ago, when he was a teacher and was refereeing a school match, he told a neighbour of mine that he hated Wigan.
But the feeling is mutual.

No he apparently, couldnt make it so Stuart Cummings appointed himself for the game. How strange was that then? Ganson must have been busy elsewhere.

True; you can see him digging his feet into the turf and stretching his legs to flip himself over.
The ref did get it wrong it was a pen to us.

It should have either been a try, play the ball on the 10 or penalty for double movement. How in the world he came up with that call is beyond me - he was over the line?!!
I feel sorry for the full time refs if he's in charge
'"
For once, Cummings got it exactly right. [iThe ball is in touch when it or a player in contact with it touches the touch-line or the ground beyond the touch-line or any object on or outside the touch-line except when a player, tackled in the field-of-play, steps into touch as he regains his feet, in which case he shall play-the-ball in the field-of-play.[/i Cummings judged that neither Charnley nor the Saints players were responsible for him ending up over the try line (which in this respect is analogous to being in touch) and he ended up in that position as a natural conclusion of his attempts to regain his feet whilst the saints players (who were entitled to do so) looked to stop him grounding the ball.
It was the only fair way of restarting the game.

Wrong.
If it wasn't a try then it should have been a penalty to Wigan for the initial high shot on Charnley.....

Suggest you watch it on sky again when you are sober.
Unlike some of your fellow fans, your other comments are not worth discussing.
Thought it was a very close game similar to the good friday game except we just held out this time.

Yeah thats a great argument, well done . I was responding to the rubbish that was being spouted by one of your fellow fans.
I also notice that Coley has not been charged by the RFL so they obviously see it in the same way as I did. I suggest you actually use your brain before posting such drivel and making yourself look stupid.

I wouldn't have bothered posting. These people aren't here for a sensible debate.
I've just watched the game again and the refereeing doesn't look any better. Nor do the silly comments from many non-Wigan fans on this thread. The Roby knock on before the Wellens try is still a knock on, the referee still allows Saints players to be a couple of yards offside again and again, the decision of the VR on the Charnley no-try remains baffling and the failure of the referee to use the yellow card at the end of the first or beginning of the second half after persistent professional fouls by Saints players remains staggering.
I don't blame Saints for taking advantage of weak refereeing, that's professionalism. I blame the referee for an absolutely diabolical performance.

We'll just have to agree to differ on this one. I've watched it frame by frame and the ball goes forward from Roby, but I guess we're all entitled to our views.

Yes. Leaving aside the point that it would be odd if the two sides complied with the rules to exactly the same extent, Saints definitely played the referee better than Wigan did.
Saints didn't "cheat", they just took advantage of weak refereeing.

Absolutely correct, ball carrying arm from elbow to hand hits the deck and is static..... tackled. Charnley does a leg drive and saints players roll him over on his back and ball goes over try line. A true reflection of the game should have been a scoreline of Saints 26 Wigan 6.

It's nice to see even the Wiganers are not beyond blaming a loss on a ref.
Lets hope the team think the same way. Nothing to change it was all the refs fault, we'll get a better one next time.
Maybe we should abandon the game and just judge the outcome based on who the ref is.
It's a long held RL tradition. Keep up the traditions of the game lads.

Yes thats right Bentham gave us tries!! Not that he penalised Saints for legitimate reasons of course not only Wigan break the rules!!!
You really should concentrate on your own team rather than worrying about us!
