so where exactly can you tackle? If the refs called held sooner than a lot of the mauling around the play the ball would stop, otherwise you take the player down. If we stop any physicality then this is not the game I started watching 40 years ago, and I'm saddened by it.

I think the commentators actually condemned Cross, they did mention "he niggles" but also said "you can't take the law into your own hands like that".

As for the tackle, me and my bro just argued the toss for a good ten minutes. A pretty awkward one to get to the bottom of. Personally I looked at it similar to when a player gets put in a dangerous position above the horizontal but gets lowered slowly as the tacklers realise where he is. It was poor tackle technique, started above the knee but slipped down. Don't think it was done with any malice but it's hard to interpret what someone was intending to do. Sin binning more than sufficient, probably should have just been an on field penalty in reality.

Well having looked at it again, it looked fine originally... but because Clarkson fell backwards it looked a dodgy one.

Its not much different to what all players do, send two/three men in... one prevents the attacker from off-loading the ball and the other gets the legs.

Just unfortunate the way Clarkson fell, had he fallen forwards there wouldn't of looked anything in it.

How about webbs last tackle of the match, so high it was untrue, but you don't go to Leeds and expect to win penalties

He did NOT tackle a standing leg, he went in for the tackle when the left leg was raised and moving, hit the thigh and slipped down the leg.

Whats worrying me more than anything is this reputation that appears to be growing within the game over Wigans tactics.

For 65 minutes in defence Leeds wrestled, niggled and committed as many fouls as Wigan but it appears that our tactics were dirty and not theirs - it appears it is now open season on Tomkins (but of course it is his own fault).

The tackle by Lima would have gone unnoticed had it been a non televised game - Silverwood was forced into the decision by the reaction of the Leeds players firstly and the reaction of the crowd when they saw the 15 replays on the big screen.

Leeds have been a dirty team for so long it is kind of expected and they didn't dissapoint tonight. I thought Senior (the king of dirty play) enjoyed a few straight forearms to the face on Sam when he was running the ball back in.

It was simply unfortunate how anyone could think it was malicious is unreal. Didn't deserve more than a penalty at most; no doubt he'll cop a ban though.
