Sorry, but don't agree. Storm paid more to keep the top Aussie talent at their club. They already had the talent. Where is the UK talent that clubs are dying to keep hold of and need the extra money for. If the salary cap was raised it would just be spent on more aussies. Clubs should spend more on helping to develop the young 'uns and hire the coaches etc that can help them develop as players... If we had 14 Michael Maguires coaching all the clubs in Superleague and England, then i'm sure we'd have gotten closer during this years 4 nations, that's for sure...

| Really, Inglis was a Beisbane product wasnt he?....Just because they sign them pro doesnt make them a product of the club. In fact smith and Cronk both came through in the Queensland cup for Brisbane. They signed pro for them but werent products of the Storm.

we had them in our youth setup, it would be like Wakefield claiming Vievers is on of theirs as he has gone pro with them.

Met Lee Mossop's Mum n Dad along with a party from Whitehaven (lovely people) in the Plough Inn at South Bank in Brisbane, His Dad was saying that Lee had received offers from other SL and NRL clubs, I believe he signed a 4 year deal with Wigan shortly after, What happened to him during the later part of the season?

| I was thinking to a point raised by Rio Ferdinand (of all people) during our Play-Off campaign.
He followed Wigan and mentioned us alot on Twitter and when asked why he mentioned that he had followed Wigan since the greats of Hanley and Offiah in the 90s. I think this shows that the real problem is that the game has gone down in profile since we had players like those. They were in the public eye much more (probably because at the time their team couldn't get in trouble for things) I mean isnt there even a thing to do with them getting paid to go on things like Soccer AM now? I was told the reason we dont send players on it is coz it counts towards the cap if they get paid so noone goes on.
We need more money and higher profile. Someone made the point that the cap arguments are saying that if we paid more then more kids would play rugby, well actually YES!
Consider that at 18 most of you here will have had a job, now imagine that you are offered a full time contract to play RL but they can only give you £5k a year coz of the cap, now I know it doesnt take a genius to realise that £5k a year is a pap wage so what do they do? They are forced to leave the sport and get a proper job on £12k plus. These players haven't reached their potential yet and havent had the chance; this is the ONLY way i can see any blame being put on the cap at all.

If TV appearance fees do count towards the cap then the game has gone even crazier than I thought.
No doubt some die-hard flat-earther supporting the CC will be on this thread shortly to explain why its good to keep the profile of the game low....

Surely that can't be true?
That would be a massive interference in a player's private dealings, which even Richard Lewis and the RFL wouldn't have to gall to impose - or would they?
That would be like my boss telling me I can't sell personal stuff on Ebay as it would raise my income to an unfair level compared to his other employees.
But then again, this is the RFL we're talking about.

I remember reading it on here if Sam did it in the name of England RL for example it would be ok but if he did it and advertised Wigan in any way or whatever if would then count on Wigan's cap or something.

I hope not, but it wouldn't surprise me, not with the people we've got running the game and the pro-CC nutters amongst the so-called fans of RL that begrudge players making a good living.
