I couldn't have coped with another season losing half our games again. To finish top above every other team in the league over a 9 month long season is just what the doctor ordered. Our Cup/Playoff runs just kept papering over the cracks.

Leeds beating St Helens yesterday was great for Wigan in my opinion as Leeds will now have no weekends off up untill the playoffs along with the huge emotional investment in a Wembley final. This will help us if we play them in the playoffs, may also help us in the respect that they may now not finish 4th. I would be pretty confident facing Hull at home in the playoffs.

Either way, I'm optimistic Wigan will reach the Grand Final.

Under the top 6 format i would have been supremely confident of reaching OT because we simply wouldn't lose 2 home games on the trot but i think this top 8 system has buggered up my confidence. ONly need to lose the opening playoff match and we'll ned to play away to reach the GF.

I wouldn't mind playing away in the playoffs. We've only lost one game away in SL all season and that was the Bradford debacle, where we should have won by plenty but switched off

I agree - the system is less favourable to us than it would have been in the top 6. But the point is I think we're looking good for the first game whether it be against Hull or Leeds given the result yesterday.

Probably edging towards wanting Leeds to win, if only because I find it tiresome listening to Warrington fans telliing me how good their team is all the time. I know quite a few Warrington supporters and I can honestly say I can't recall a conversation about Rugby League in general with any of them. Conversations usually take the same direction with all of them telling me about Wire this/Wire that with no real interest in anything I have to say about Wigan or anyone else. A lot of Saints fans I know feel the same way, and there was a recent thread on the Hull board with similar conclusions. Either way I won't be losing any sleep over who wins, but I must admit having to chose between Saints and Warrington would be akin to having to choose whether you want to lose both eyes or your meat and two veg.

They'll finsh either 4th or 5th out of a 14 team league. This shows they are a good team but not really near the best. They are closer to being average.

I'd imagine the stewards and police will have a very busy day come cup final weekend. In my experience when Leeds get to a cup final they usually attract a large proportion of Leeds Utd fans for the day. I can't see them being as accomodating as the normal RL fan to those pesky Wire fans and their usual antics.
