Website now says 4pm - have they literally just updated that? I'd just this moment booked advance train tickets, arriving Sheffield at 1.30pm and returning on the 6.10pm one - which probably won't work out now. Bit annoyed to be honest.

Yet we always take the most to the magic weekend and we probably travel to away games as well as anyone. We took 5k to Bradford in the play-offs.

It won't effect us mate but thats pretty poor from your point of view. I went on the train for the Latics match there 3 years back and iirc it took us about 25-30mins to walk to the station.

It's just about managable with a 4pm kick off but it's a rush.

Surely you can cancel without being charged?

Trains from Sheff to Piccadilly are pretty much every 30 mins and trains from Picc to WNW are about every 30 mins also.

Advance tickets, so can't be changed or refunded. It's only £3.30 each way Manchester to Sheffield with a 16-25 railcard. Not a massive amount to write off, but I'm probably best off booking again for the train an hour later, which pretty much wipes out any advantage I gained from having booked in advance.

You could make it back to the station from BL after the game if you headed straight away, it's maybe 20 mins at most walk. 5 at most in a taxi I reckon.

Why 4pm tho, whats up with 3pm i know there is a game on the box its like saying to us tonight kick off at 10pm when the other game as finished.

The cheapest tickets at £16.50 are anytime tickets though. Allowing you travel at any time thoroughout the day. Check em and see.

EDIT: just read your further post. So it poss may not be the same conditions with a rail card I guess. I'll leave the above comment on for info for others though.

Just get the next available train. I doubt they'll question your ticket and if they do just blag it

Cheers for info - reckon getting back to the station for the 18.10 train is probably do-able actually, so will stick with what I've booked. Change of kick-off time means an extra hour sampling the delights of Sheffield on arrival too. Works out £8.80 on the train with a 16-25 Railcard, plus a free match ticket - not bad for a day out!

You would hope they drop on the doorstep at dw next week so they can go on sale, would make sense just to open the two stands down the side to try and get an atmosphere

Think that'd be the least likely configuration - if they are going to open any more than the main stand then I imagine it will be the end behind the goals opposite the Kop, and then at least they can only open the upper or lower tier. Even if Wigan take a big following, I can't see the crowd behind any bigger than 5-6,000 at the very most.
