As the quantity of this rare and wonderful substance has decreased per pie recently, isn't the legally correct name now "potato and meat" as opposed to "meyt n prater"?

I kid you not.
If you ever find yourself in the greatest city in the world (thats Sydney by the way) make sure you visit one of Harrys outlets one evening and treat yourself to a Tiger pie.
My favourite is the one down by Paddys markets personally.
And whilst you are eating it feel free to look up at the southern cross twinkling high in the sky above Sydney and silently bow your head in appreciation of Barry McKenzie a dinki di rootin' tootin Aussie legend

Genuine Answer.
Personally I left Australia to live and work in Europe on a WHV, as do many Aussies and Kiwis.
Many Aussies I have met over here chose London because
1. The wages are good.
2. Its pretty close to continental Europe with all it's history and culture, and easily accessible thanks to the budget airlines that operate from here.
3. Although expensive to live in, it can work out pretty cheap if you live in a sharehouse with other Aussies. My room in my sharehouse was formerly inhabited by a mate of mine from back home...when his time was up in England and he went back home, I moved in. Thats the way we do things and it works out well. I've already got someone else lined up for my room when I finish here.
4. Our parents did the same thing when they were young back in the late 60's or 70's
5. Its party central every night of the week if you want it. 'Here for a good time, not a long time' is the WHV Aussies motto.
6. Despite the old 'He must work in a bar' line believe it or not I actually have a well paid and fairly interesting job. I can quite comfortably send a good chunk of my wages home and still have enough money to have a good life over here.
For me though this will always just be a visit. It's an experience that I'm pleased to have done.

| if you want a meat and potatoe that contains PROPER MEAT......bispham kitchens at bispham, blackpool, and the one in cleveleys.
the MEAT pies are what it says on the label and take about 20 minutes to eat unless you have very sharp gnashers

Surely you can't really believe that the ubiquitous British Pork pie is 'quality'???
I have only ever tried one once before admittedly but as far as I can remember it was a cold hard lump of fatty minced pork (with added lumps of extra white fat) which had been shaped into a round mass before being encased in slimy jelly and some crumbly pastry before being served COLD to its unsuspecting victim....ie ME
Seriously.
These things should carry a government health warning.

| Mmmm, Yates Greer pies! My grandad was in charge of the factory in Leigh for a v.v.v. long time. He used to take me in at weekends when we were visiting for a treat to see the factory cat and get a tray of pies for a family gathering out of one of the giant fridges. A-mazing. If you cut me in half, there's just a massive YG pork pie in there. Although their pies aren't as nice as when my grandad was in charge.

The shop in Golborne is still open. I believe some of the staff used their redundancy money to keep some of the shops open. Something along those lines. I know this because I had a Pimbletts from the Golrborne store yesterday.
