| Quote ="Scott_HKR"Couldn't believe that you only scored three tries against a Cas side who were worse than wakefield on saturday.
Thought Coley, Tomkins and Phelps were as dirty as any cas player on the pitch, and the only exciting bit of the game was when castleford scored their late tries.
Thought both sides dropped the ball ridiculously easy, and I think Castleford's lack of energy and having to chase the game carried wigan home.'"
I think you're being very disrespectful to be honest, you think Cas were so poor last night - they would haven beaten you and the performance you put in against Leeds.
It's also amusing that you think anybody even came close to the crap of McGoldrick (who even a fair shar of cas fans think is a disgrace to their club).
Did either team come close to their best? No of course not, plenty of mistakes on both sides - take Leeds's performance out of the equation, and argueably Saint's performance, and the two teams last night played better than the other teams in the first round of the playoffs.

| Quote ="craigizzard"Both teams were very, very poor. Before that game I was worried about Wigan as a dark-horse for the grand final, and would have sent them to Saints if you get through to the semis. After seeing that, I'd play Wigan every day of the week ahead of Hudds or Catalans. I imagine the Leeds management will have seen it the same. You had absolutely nothing to offer except wide kicks to Richards. So you'll be playing Leeds if you beat HKR. Which looks unlikely on that showing.'"
If we beat HKR Leeds would be mad not to send us to Saints. They would expect Saints to beat Les Cats or Hudds as they would expect to beat them themselves. They may expect Saints to beat us as well but they know if that is the semi final Saints will not have an easy time of it. They would expect a Wigan and Saints semi final to be an epic encounter and whoever won it well and truly softened up for the final itself.

Sums it up for me.
I thought on a positive note we dealt with the last tackle plays much better. Most noticeably Roberts and Richards. Our defensive effort was much better from last week.
However we were still flat in attack at times and Tomkins & Leuluai didn't impose themselves on the game as much as you would like.
We made silly mistakes which gifted Castleford possession. Phelps twice with the dropped high kick and the silly offload (which both led to tries) and Andy Coley failing to play the ball correctly at least three times. Basics really and we must sort that out.
Made hard work of a game that should have been wrapped up mid way into the second half. Not good enough to challenge Leeds but we progressed.

This is what I don't understand and it really hisses me off!
We're at the end of the season NOT the beginning and we should be flying now with minimum errors (play the ball, standing square, losing possession).
Our attacking moves should be honed (only we don't have any apart from a kick to the corner!) and the players, as a team, should know what they are up to at all times.
Still, I think we are good enough to beat Hull KR and I agree with a later poster that Leeds will probably send us to St Helens in order that we will knock seven shades of brown out of each other, hoping for a Wigan win so they can murder us in the final! This is where their plan falls down.
Saving up for a new season ticket. Next year I qualify for a concession.

Agree with that, an excellent summary of the game. What's been bothering me recently is the use of O'Loughlinn in the backs. Surely he has proved over the years that he isn't suited to that job. I would have thought that it would have been better to use Flanagan, who has played there plenty of times in the reserves and has done well. As well as that it is leaving us even lighter in the pack with Flanagan there and we have also lost one of our best tacklers in the middle of the park when we have been under the cosh from opposition packs.
Although Flanagan has played well I think he has struggled to make an impression in the middle but has been quite useful when he has drifted wide. Surely this would be a cue to move O'Loughlin back to loose forward and free Flanagan to use his extra speed in the backs?

Last time I checked I'm entitled to an opinion on a game of rugby...
There is absolutely no way Castleford would have beaten rovers playing like that last night, could say you're being disrespectful for saying that!
And I like your comment "take Leed's performance out of the equation, and Saint's," so that just leaves one other winning team who could have played better than you lol??!! You might as well have said take Catalans performance out of the equation and say Wigan was the best team all weekend lol
However, I do agree that McGoldrick was/is pants, and didn't do anything to help his side win the game.
End of the day, I was making an analysis on the game.
Hope to see you at craven park on saturday

I didn't say you weren't entitled to an opinion, just find it slightly off to slate both teams quite so badly, when you hardly set the world on fire against Leeds. You were pretty damn dire against Leeds, and you can play far far better than that - hence saying Cas against your performance and not Cas against you overall.
Oh and I said arguably saints performance, as they didn't play anything like to their ability either, and have been really struggling to put points on the board.

I was only being honest, or my perception of the game anyway.
Think our game with Leeds would have been closer had we had the likes of Briscoe, Murrel, Galea, Webster, Cockayne playing. Not blaming injuries for the defeat cos I think Leeds gave a lesson in how to keep the ball alive, something which we did very little of in that game.
I just thought the wigan/cas game was very slow, and if Wigan were that better how they managed to only score three tries, one which was a 50/50 call on the video ref, and to end up having to cling on. That was all I was saying, wasn't saying anything about rovers playing good or bad against leeds.

It just came across to me wrong that's all mate, appologies for taking it the wrong way. I think KR are a good tough side, and this just highlights how tough play-off rugby can be in having to deal with injuries, particularly when you're still trying to gain experience and build up a bigger more robust squad.
I think Cas might have looked worse in attack due to the excellent defence by Wigan in the first 60 minutes, if we'd not been as sharp defensively they would have put a few past us as their line speed and speed of the play the ball were excellent in spells.

Ah no worries.
Save your arguing for when we beat ya on saturday lol
Regarding squad size though, rovers for next year at extremely light in the forwards so that is a worry of ours :S
