He's been playing really well recently but errors also seem to have creeped in which is holding him back a little.

I think he just needs to calm down a touch at times. He looks too edgy but i'd sooner have that then somebody who doesn't give a toss.

I know where your coming from but I think the point being made (here and elsewhere) is that certain players are crucified for making errors whilst others seem to be immune.

I've been a backer of Roberts, Ridell and co all season and have said to give them time. They've both improved hugely recently and a poor game for Roberts tonight won;t change my view on him.

Same as for Joel. He had a stinker tonight but these things happen especially in poor conditions.

Agreed. I've just watched the game again and Roberts handling was shocking. However to say he had a shocking game was far from the truth and his application was a good as in previous weeks. I simply don't think he thrives in those conditions. The same can be said of other players. I wouldn't put it past him to have a blinder next week. maybe there's an argument for playing/dropping players according to the conditions. Just a thought.

People have good games and bad games. Amos never had his best game tonight, but the amount of work he went looking for was very impressive, sure he messed a few kicks up but to suggest he offers nothing really annoys me.

I haven't saw the SKY coverage but no doubt the idiots on here are regurgitating what Stevo said (despite whinging about him for 5 weeks), This board is one of the worst knee-jerk boards I know and half the people haven't got a clue about Rugby League in general.

This isnt a mid 80's team that should win every game, we are building towards a successful future and we are DEFINITELY going in the right way

In all honesty it was blatent. Clever play from Roberts that should have gained a penalty.


That said, given the likely wage of Roberts he offers very little imo.

RUbbish... Alright Roberts had a nightmare last night... but has been getting better and has scored and saved us on many occasions this year... to say he offers nothing... just show your limited knowledge of the game...

He didn't have a good game last night but he was not the reason we lost the match. If it hadn't rained so much Eastmond could not have aqua planed over for quite so far but if we had taken the umpteen chances that we had it wouldn't have mattered anyway and if my uncle had been a woman he would have been my aunt so put it behind us and move on. Players have bad games just like they have great ones - it doesn't make it a hanging offence

I have put something similair to this in another post, but I feel Roberts needs a good pre season in the winter learning how to play in the wet. Dry summer nights he looks ok, a bit of cold and rain he looks crap. (Perhaps he needs some of those gloves rugby union players wear,

Roberts was very poor in the first half especially. Not only did he knock on far too much how many times does he over run the ball? I lost count of the times Gleeson tried to get the quick pass away to him but he had over ran it.

Saying that, he was no worse than Joel Tomkins who was guilty of knocking on time and time again just as we looked to have the beating of Saints. His knock ons took the pressure off Saints and gave them reason to believe they could get the winning score.

He could start a new trend - playing on the wing in a pair of those lovely

Agree with you though it must take some getting used to coming from the heat of Aus to the cold and wet of Wigan, he isn't the first and wont be the last who has struggled in his first season in the UK but he will be more used to it next year. I can think of a few players who struggled in their first year but came good - most recent being Pat Richards and how about Craig Smith ? Had a nightmare of a first season but I would happily have paid for him to stay myself at the end.

And before someone says overseas players should know what it is like over here, well to some extent maybe they should but on the other hand if you have never played in rain, sleet, snow and mud before then how on earth can they tell
