Phelps to full back and give amos a week off. It's important we pick our players on form and amos is just lacking that killer instinct at the minute- saying that, I would take amos over calderwood every day of the week and I think that he will become a fantastic player for us given time.'"
If we look at Roberts form in comparison to Richards in his first season it compares very favourably. He hasn't been a nightmare signing by any stretch but looks to be abit unlucky due to circumstances and to me is likely to miss out next week.
I suppose this is the beauty of having a 'squad' for a change. Smith has been dropped, worked on his bad parts and come back a better player.
Roberts will do the same imo.

| Roberts looks to me to have the beating of a man, but not the confidence to finish it off.
A 50 or 60yarder would do him the world of good. I would let him sit next week out, and go with Phelps at fullback and Ainscough and Richards on the wings.

Does that mean you'd move Ainscough, or Gleeson? May be a dumb question coming here, but would there be a big difference in a wingers game if he was switched to the opposite wing? Don't know how much of an impact this would make on a player, but interested in finding out if it could ruin someone.

I am happy with the combinations at the moment. The left side clearly get the quicker more quality ball and Ainscough needs to be on the end of it. Having Gleeson on the right ensures that although they do get less quality ball, he is able to do more with it.
I know he has had some stick on here but i am looking forward to hopefully seeing Ainscough outside Pryce in the next few seasons think that could be a devastating partnership, once Pryce get back to full fitness.(hopefully)

| Just wondered how he's been getting on for you guys overall since he joined?
When it was announced we were selling him I was gutted, one of our best players over the last 4 years but since he's gone and Bridge has stepped in we're like Martin who? Bridge really seems to finally be living up to his potential and he's still only about 24.
Still Gleese is a class player, has he been showing it at Wigan thus far?

A mixed bag so far which is to be expected i suppose whilst he gets used to the way the team play and the individual players around him.
He's got the best footwork of any Wigan centre for the last 15 years which is very pleasing and he'll be a fine player for us long term which is no suprise.

| Gleeson is one of the best 'name' signings we've made in a long time.
I'm very pleased with having him here.

| Fundamentally he adds a balance to the team, pushing us to use both wide channels, which also makes us harder to read for defences.

Nahh chief, reserves on saturday.
Riley scored another couple yesterday so I can't see Mathers forcing him out as of yet.

He'll do nicely for us until Thornley's ready to step in. Though I'm sure, if you try hard enough, you can find a reason why he's not good news for us either.

I'm classing long term as the length of his contract and not just 4 games like he's played for us so far.
After his 3 and a half years are up i think we'll be able to look back and say that it was a good signing.

| Gleeson was top class at saints and was very pi$$ed off when we sold him.
From what I seen and heard of him at Warrington was he has 4-5 weeks where he is world class and then 4-5 weeks total gash.

| ive been impressed with gleesons start, dont forget hes only been at the club 3 weeks.
Hes settled in extremely well- set up some good trys scored a couple of good trys, it is good to see wigan having attacking threat down two sides of the pitch.
