| Excellent performance, tactically spot on. The defense at the beginning of the second half was brutal.
For the first time in a long time it was a top team performance from everyone in the team, no one had a bad game. Think the MOM could have gone to anyone really.

| Quote ="Stu M"People clearly being selective with what they are reading from my posts.
“Wigan had a good game plan, Peet did his homework. They played at a good intensity. We were second best for a lot of the game”
Not sure why the above comments are being ignored.
All I pointed out was the number of clean line breaks we made. Bearing in mind we’ve been largely awful since the WCC then I was surprised. I can’t recall the last time we broke an opponents line so often.
If Warrington have half those chances next week then they will be good enough to convert them.
I said last night that Shorrocks was outstanding. Smithies was also the best forward on the pitch.
With a full team out it could well be Wigan and Warrington in the Grand Final this year.
This is the end of an era for Saints and we are seeing an ageing team devoid of pace and a couple of greats not performing.
It’s Sport, it happens. I’m a Utd fan so I’ve seen it happen with my own football team.
Congratulations to Wigan. They defended well and had the better performers on the day.'"
I’m not so sure about it being an end of an era, you deservedly beat Penrith and I think you’ve had a bit of a hangover after that. You have also been that far ahead you can afford to drop off and still win the title. If I was a betting man I’d still pick you to win the grand final.

| It's not being selective at all Stu. You're offering qualified praise of 'you played well but we should have beaten you'. On a day you were comprehensively outplayed you would surely expect that to be challenged, wouldn't you?
If I might be allowed to answer the question I asked earlier (but you haven't answered) you would credit Saints (not qualified credit) if you'd won in the manner we did yesterday and quite rightly so.

Agreed, we now need to see Mago step up, if he can't put in a better performance than Singleton yesterday he's surely gone, Wakey would seem the ideal game to give Hill a first team run out.

He had a decent game yesterday Ellis.
Always looks like he can do more minutes. He will probably have to over the next few weeks.

Great shout, he ran for 77 more metres than Matty Lees who Saints fans have been telling us is amazing.
Didn’t even realise he was playing

On the the back of a beaten pack Lees doesn’t look good. I don’t really notice him like Thompson,Passi and Walmsley. Although in the final his try was class

| The only time I've seen saints play like saints this year has been when Wolf was sitting in t he e coaches box alongside Wellens.
They lacked that 100% effort 100%of the time we've been used to seeing the past 3 years

I watched an interview in the week with Tommy Makinson, who was saying how relaxed everyone was in the build up to Good Friday and that it comes from Wellens, who he said is a laid back character and is really relaxed himself. It sounded a bit of a world away from how I’d imagine Woolf being described, especially after watching Wellens himself commenting how intense he was in a recent podcast. No two coaches are the same but Woolf clearly focussed hugely on those effort areas. If you start to see a crack in some of that work, you’re a real chance against them.

This is what I posted on Red Vee earlier in the week
My only worry is if he’s capable of being detached enough from them to be ruthless. He’s been there for years and played for years with the likes of Lomax, Makinson, Roby and Walmsley.
I can’t imagine Woolf being worried about administering bollockings or saying a few home truths.
I’ve noticed on the pics from last night WCC celebrations that the players were all in different suits. Woolf would’ve had them all in matching club suits with club ties. I think it’s little things like that which matter. It’s setting standards and my concern is if these are being eroded slightly.
These next few games will give us the answer. We are more than capable of beating Wigan and Warrington, of course we are but we have to start returning to the levels we know of.

I’m not naïve enough to think Saints won’t be right there at the business end but it was an interesting comment from Makinson. That podcast with Wellens highlighted how intense Woolf was and how high his standards were. There clearly is a hangover from that WCC win/trip and while that won’t last forever, it feels like it probably wouldn’t have been allowed to happen in the first place with Woolf at the helm.

Of course you are capable on beating Wigan and Warrington on the day and so is anyone else on their day but as it happens St Helens was not capable yesterday and that is a fact and not a "if he would have done this or passed the ball or put it down reason they lost excuse"

| It's going to be interesting to see how Wellens and Saints go this year.
The last 3 years of their success has been built on 100% intensity, first and foremost, then the skill to execute. Reduce the intensity by a few % and the better teams will exploit the small cracks that appear.
Not writing Saints off, but possibly they are coming closer to the pack containing the next 2 or 3 sides.

I always thought Woolf was capable of giving his mother in law a few home truths if needs be not sure Wellens has that in him.

Just rewatching the game and it's a bad one from Knowles, textbook hip drop tackle, holding onto Coopers shoulder and dropping his full weight. Be stunned if he doesn't sit a few games out.

Since when has it been against the rules to use your weight to tackle someone? Don’t see how there’s anything wrong with holding someone’s shoulder and using your weight to get them down. Sounds like a tackle to me?
