Without Wigan, this guy wouldn't have had a career by now. The time, effort and faith shown in him by the club has been massive. Had he joined a club closer to home 4 years ago, he would probably have reverted to type long ago.

We thought we were signing a top player. Reality is, he is a slowing average player who very rarely stood out for us. Good service? Debatable, brought plenty of baggage and kept trouble close by all the time. We are well rid and Leeds have made a mistake. I thought Leeds would be up there this season but the reality is you in a race to the bottom. Austin and Sezer obviously aren't interested and Hardaker will bring out the worst in your gullible players. Good luck, you will need it.

I think the problem is though mate, he would’ve had a career and he knows that. He’s always had that safety net of his talent getting him another club, whatever he gets up to and here he is again, coming out of a situation in what he will personally see as a better position.

I recall when we signed him and I didn’t want him but in fairness to him, he got his head down and some respect for him built up over time. I think me, like many others, has lost that now but I don’t think we’ll lose any sleep over him. The club lost itself for a while regards signings like him and it feels like he’s the last player we had who could put us under a cloud. That risk has gone now and that’s a relief.

There’s no way we sign Hardaker if we are competing again. But at the minute it’s ‘beggars can’t be chooses…’

He’s certainly engineered this to is advantage. Not sure why you didn’t just release him in the off season even he was clearly wanting out?

We offered him the opportunity but no one came in for him. The only teams we vetoed were the Hull teams and that was because there was little difference in commute for him, so that was a reasonable compromise considering he was still under contract.

It's not been banter though has it. It looks as though 100% of us are happy to see him go. There is no furore in Wigan. Nobody gives a toss, Zak is a legend in his own mind but for those of us blessed with the gift of sight, we all know he is a declining player and his next brush with the law or club is just around the corner. Your goading (banter) hasn't really paid off has it. You haven't had one bite defending or wanting Zak to stay. We should be the ones taking the pi$$ out of Leeds really but we don't need to. All we have to do is sit and wait and Zak can make a balls of it all by himself.

Surely the inference is obvious: if those are Hardaker's words (I assume they are?), then surely the comment is that things have actually turned out just how Hardaker wanted (or, you might say, engineered).

This is just PR, clearly what has gone on is not going to be common public knowlege so both Wigan and Zak are saying nice things and parting ways for minimal drama.

I reckon if and when the truth comes out about Hardaker there will be some surprised reactions on our board (Leeds)
However many will not be surprised whatsoever as his ego and stupidity will always take priority over anything else.

I think when we look back in a couple of years we will be able to say we got off pretty lightly with him. Minor blip at the start and a premature departure, but some decent performances in between. Could have been a lot worse.

That's how I look at it. 3 and a half years of solid rugby from him - we did OK really.
