It would be against WADA rules (which the NRL will adhere to) for Penrith to attempt to sign him. If they have i imagine that either they will get a substantial fine or any deal will be torn up and hock may even get his ban lenghtened as I am pretty sure the ban prohibits him from talking to clubs rather than clubs to him. I'm not sure which way around that is.

I doubt that, due to the trouble it could cause him, he would even be pretending to be signed by Penrith. However the use of coke shows he isnt the sharpest tool in the shed.

I dont think Gaz would get a working visa for OZ, penrith will not be able to provide evidence that he has been working as a paid player because he hasn't for the last 15 months

I'm not sure, as Matt Stevens signed for Saracens after a year (I think) of his ban, so there was still another year remainiing. Obviously within that time he could still not have any contact with the club with regards to training or playing etc, but it was announced he was signing for them.

I thought his contract under normal circumstances expired sometime in 2010 but since he got banned his contract was voided anyway. Even if we still held his registration we still could not prevent him moving or ask for a fee. As was pointed out on the other Hock thread by someone you can only ask a fee for an out of contract player if they are 23 or younger (to get some pay back for the development time the club invested). Players older that 23 are free agents when their contract expires.
