| Didn't the club (during the Dorahy era) take a weakened team to Cas on an international weekend and get a right pasting? I think it was a Sky game.

| Guys...you must have short memories! Remember the Barrow cup game recently...perfect opportunity to rest a few of those carrying injuries / needing a break..but no...we played our strongest team possible and put 50+ on them?!!
If anyone thinks Madge will 'rest' players at Cas away given the example he set at home to Barrow you must be deluded!!

| the exiles squad should have had one from each team then to take it upto the 17 let the fans pick, it isnt fair having 3 and 4 players from one team playing in the exiles then more for england. There shouldnt be any league games that weekend imo

| I expect quite a few to still play, something like ...
Sam
Charnley
J.Tomkins
Goulding
Roberts
Finch
Deacon
Mossop
McLlorum
Lima
Hoffman
Hansen
Farrell
L.Tomkins
Prescott
Crosby
Tuson
I'd leave George out, he's had a little bit of trouble with injuries this year. I either think Joel will play in the centres for England or get spelled in the second row, so i think he'd be ok out in the centres v Cas. Sam should be ok to I imagine, get him to pass to Josh and Amos on kick returns like he did quite abit Vs KR at the weekend. Lockers will get through loads of work for England so i'd give him the game off. Pat has come back from a massive injury recently and i wouldnt risk him. Tommy would much depend on were he plays and how much he's involved.
Should give us an opportunity to play a couple of the young lads playing out on loan at Widnes or the likes of King and Russell in the Reserves.

| Id expect Sam, Joel and Richards all to back up.
Carmont to rest, and maybe Lockers.
Lockers would be more after what happened last season more than this seasons fitness etc.

| Actually, I'd pull them all out of the meaningless game on the Friday night.
Whoever planned that needs sacking. If the RFL really need a mid-season kick-around, then have it on a Friday night when the Challenge Cup Semis are being played, and dont pick players from those 4 clubs.

| Time for Mrs Craddock, the lunch lady, to put a load of laxative in the porridge, and pull ALL our players out of this meaningless, ridiculous game. I know they might want to play, but all too often players get injured, or tired, which can beget more injuries, and if our season if fooked up by this, I will be seriously p[ii[/issed off.

I think you mean 'mooted' and not 'muted'. Moot is the verb meaning to discuss whereas mute is the verb meaning to silence.

I agree, I'd pull 'em out as well if it were possible.
In future if they want this game to have any status and a big crowd play it on its own with a weekend off from the normal SL rounds.
That said to get back to the thread subject I expect Madge to play all of the players barring injury. He will want the two points and it would really backfire if we put a weaker team out v Cas and lost then lost to Saints with a "rested" squad back playing.

I think the players should have the choice whether to make themselves available for selection or not then Maguire to decide whether they play. Obviously it would depend on whether anyone picks up an injury or knock. Tomkins x2 at their age ought to be able to backup. I'd certainly not pick Carmont. The others need assessing after the exiles game.
I'm all in favour of the concept but why couldn't the RFL have started the season a week earlier and played this on a weekend without any club fixtures.

I did wonder why Mellor and Logan didn't play in the 9's on Tuesday night.

If it were up to me they'd play. After a flat performance against Catalans, their youthful enthusiasm might be just what we need to lift the team.

I'm just going off the fact that Crosby played on Tueday night and the other two didn't. He may still play, and like you I hope he does.
Against Cas I'd start Leuluai and bench Logan, giving McIlorum a week off. He's looked very tired to me these past few weeks, and as a consequence we've not been getting much out of him offensively.
I'd be tempted to start Mellor with Finch. I'm not a big fan of Finch and Deacon together, as they pretty much offer the same thing. At least Mellor has the speed, footwork and the ability to trouble the defensive line. Let's be honest were struggling in attack IMO. If we can't go around an opposition side were struggle to make breaks. Mellor might just be the answer to that, plus he'd take a little more pressure off Tomkins with him being another attacking option.
