| I'll be happy if Maguire serves his full 3 year deal and suprised if he does more but the clubs in great shape now and we all know who'll get the job next. It will eventually go to Shaun Wane and as Priestman85 says the only real question is who Wane's assistant would be.
My money would be on Rads and i'd be confident of that partnership keeping up the good work thats been started.

to replace Craig Bellamy who will replace Ivan Henjak at the Broncos.
Rumour has it Henjak will be reviewed after 10 weeks.
Lets hope for Wigan it is just a rumour.

So would he go? And if he did would it make a big difference to Wigans aspirations of continuing their recent success?

| already a thread on this. Most people tend to agree that Maguire seems to be the kind of bloke that would honour his 3 year contract, and when it does end we wont be any worse off with Wane in charge.

| Lets put some facts into that fake title
Quote Talk is Wigan coach Michael Maguire, regarded as one of rugby league's brightest prospects, could be lured home to take over at Melbourne next year, freeing up Craig Bellamy to return to Brisbane where he was Bennett's right-hand man for several seasons.'"

Ah ok, apologies I didn't see it.
If Wigan win the WCC at a canter as most people expect them to then it could be a double edged sword.

Who are these most people?
Most people I know don't expect them to win in a canter at all, in fact most people I know think it will be a tight game which could go either way.

It seems to be the general consensus.
And to be honest if a side like Wigan who are playing at home and will already be into their season can't beat a side thats flown 12,000 miles halfway round the world (probably with a team that will be missing a lot of players that played in the NRL grand final) something is seriously wrong.
Wigan should win this by at least 20 points.

So the concensus that Wigan will win at a canter is by you not by the Wigan fans on here.

Not at all.
Even the Saints fans think Wigan will win.
They were discussing it on the Hull FC board a while ago too.
And I agree.
Wigan by 20 AT LEAST

I hope we win and i'll be happy if we edge it but I'm not over confident. Anything can happen in these games, if theyre such a cetainty then what happened in 2003, 2009 and 2010??? Plus won't WE be missing a few players who played in the SL GF??
I think the above comments are thrown around by opposition fans just to cover all bases in case of a Wigan win / loss.

| If we win it'll be a real close tussle and it won't be by more then 6 points imo.
To beat any side containing guys like Boyd, Morris, Cooper, Gasnier, Soward, Hornby,Young, Weyman, Creagh, Fien etc is going to take one hell of an effort but with home backing and a spot of luck we're capable.

This sounds suspiciously like the sort of excuses the Aussies themselves make before these WCC matches. Or the sort of comments non-Wigan fans make to a) discredit a Wigan victory, and/or b) make a Wigan defeat seem all the more painful - in that respect it's no surprise that Saints fans are saying it.
Wigan also are likely to be missing players who played in the Grand Final, and while acclimatising after such a long journey might be a problem for St George, they are still one of the best club sides in the world.
I don't know where you got this 'consensus' from, but I can honestly say that I know no Wigan fan who expects us to win at a canter. None at all.
