Hock got injured early in the first half, he went off, to come back on in the second half, and got even more injured.

| I used to think that having a captain in the side doesn't make a difference... Especially when Barrett was in the side, we all knew that 'he' was the captain, not O'Loughlin. Tonight though, I started thinking, we've no Barrett... Therefore, no captain. When Farrell was here, he would absolutley boll0ck the team for conceeding a try, the team were scared to disapoint him! Barrett was the same... And now he's gone, who's running the show? Like somone else said before, O'Loughlin didn't say $hit tonight... They need someone who the team looks up to, and fears to disapoint - Noble is obviously soft as $hite aswell, because they come out of that changing room and nothing seems to have been said to them.
I was speechless tonight, I didn't think we played bad, I just think that there's nothing 'about' the team anymore, no spirit and that. Shaun Ainscough had that fire about him tonight where you could tell that he wanted to perform because it was Wigan. Yeah it was his debut, but you could see that he wanted to play for Wigan, he knows what it means. If your a young lad growing up, playing rugby, all you ever wanna do is play for Wigan - Most of the team don't have that feeling, thats why he stood out tonight - Barrett knew what it meant to play for Wigan, and he was an Ozzie!

If you were asked by your boss to do something every day that you thought was wrong and saw the results to confirm this thought, would you turn up every day full of enthusiasm?

Thats Bull, we have the players on paper, just the totally wrong tactics.
The longer we continue with them the more harm it will do to the next coach.

Its not - our squad on paper is strongish, but there are still massive gaps in it if we want to compete - we need 2 centres, a 6 and a prop for starters.
Our tactics don't affect Goudling being a turnstyle, Carmont isn't that good in all reality, Smith & Tommy are 7's and we are a prop short.
Noble in or Noble out, we are mid table and have been for a few years.

Exactly.
We throw the ball around a bit and we start scoring tries, we stop and revert to type and it all goes pear shaped again.

Of course we are mid table id mid table means 3rd in a 2 horse race, the sad thing is we are not progressing.
If you analyse every team they need players to be complete teams but they do not have them.
Tactics do influence missed tackles. You have to put the defence in a best position to make the tackle the current tactics do not give our players the best chance to make the tackle.
I know i am going to be called a know it all and a big headed b@stard, but i knew Shenton would hurt us if we retained this tactic. i documented it on here and it is the reason i expected a loss tonight.
You cannot give any team space and time with the ball in hand and expect to win a game, especially if you offer so little in attack.

tbh hes Mr Hull FC and hes the one player i wouldnt want to lose ,i think he would go great with lulu though ,maybe we should do a deal lulu is half hull anyway
seriously i did hear hull tried to get fielden in the close season but his salary at yours was the problem ,wigan would let him go but we wouldnt give him what you are paying him ,reading other posts i would think you would have been glad to get rid and free some cap space up for other positions more critical, looking at your halfs thorman would have been a good signing for you ,glad we got him though really improved our kicking game ,im sure things will cum good for u soon

In the past Dennis Betts, Sean Edwards, Ellery Hanley, Andy Gregory, Martin Offiah were the soul of the club most of these postions are now taken up with overseas players because the present management are always looking at the short term fix option.
You can,t do that in Superleague anymore the driving force is Leeds and St Helens and to some extent Hull in home grown talent.
When the soul of the club is lost you get inconsistency, frustration and inplosion this is what seems to be happening to this once proud club.

you are right wigan have let some grt players go ,and brought in rubish imports ,the league is full of ex wigan accadmy players playing for other sl clubs ,i think you have to build slowly and add to your local talent with top quality overseas ,to help bring the young locals on ,this is what leeds have done for some time now and where copying it tbh

Harsh on Hock, before his injury he was one of our only forwards along with Feka that was causing any problems for Cas. He picked up a bad knock on the hip (I think) and obviously couln't continue to play on.

So, tell me, when did you see the DVD of the Castleford game on which you have been pontificating since last night?
Armchair critics, particularly ones who haven't even seen the game, really pee me off.
Get off your lazy arris, and get yourself down to the stadium with the rest of us.
I also love the bit about justifying your opinion. How can you have an opinion on a game you haven't even seen.

| I think it was no coincidence that the 20 minute spell in the 2nd half when the players deviated from Noble's safety first tactics and played off the cuff rugby, then it was also the period when we looked creative and actually put points on the board. The talent is apparent in periods like that, so its clearly just the tactics which are wrong. Confidence is also low - in the last ten minutes the players reverted to the Noble tactics, obviously fearing making a mistake and losing the game - so instead trying to grind a way over the line in hope more than expectation, rather than stepping up, taking a risk and potentially winning it.
Noble is trying to fit players into his gameplan which doesn't suit their natural ability, rather than adapting the gameplan to suit the attributes of the players that he has, as any good coach should to get the best out of his players.
Noble's negativity and inability to innovate beyond Plan A is killing the team.

No not seen it yet and probably will not sadly.
I do not have an opinion of the game, other than that formed from the radio comentary.
I have an opinion of Noble as a coach, and i have seen much to back this up.
