| Wigan just had no answers. When you get beaten in that manner, the opposition deserve to be applauded. Unless it's Saints

| Cas best us fair and square and I quite enjoyed watching them play. I think Daryl Powell deserves a huge amount of credit and is another candidate now to take McNamaras England job when he finally calls it quits in 35 years.
It's a real shame the England role is a closed shop and nothing more then a job for one of the boys at a time we have 3 really strong candidates for the role.

| I applaud good play but I really do think the home support is really embarrasing - do you think cas fans would clap wigan for beating them in a challenge cup qtr final? - I think everyone should take a reality check and stop being so nice to the opposition.
When cas beat us away earlier in the season you would have thought they had won every trophy in the world! they at least showed passion for THEIR club

What do you expect our fans to do when the opposition have just put in a cracking performance? Some other clubs fans would probably boo their own team. I like the fact that Wigan fans can appreciate an excellent performance even if it's from the opposing side. Maybe Cas fans wouldn't applaud; I'd say the context makes a difference. We wouldn't applaud Saints, Wire, Leeds or most clubs for that matter but when it comes to a team that have done what Cas are doing this year with such meagre resources it's good to show a bit of class. It's not done in a patronising way either. Everyone around me was genuinely impressed.
Actually generating an atmosphere would be a nice thing at the DW, but the two aren't related, so I don't see applauding at the end of the game as much of an issue as the silence during it.

What do you think the applause was for at the end?
I don't think it's embarrassing at all that the crowd appreciate good play, it's something to be appreciated in it's own right, what should we be doing, booing them on the way back from a try like children? Do you really think that the players would do anything but laugh? Having played in front of a crowd, it's rare that you notice the noise unless there's a break in play.

We've witnessed a huge amount of success at Wigan, we can afford to be humble in defeat.

| Well after all the trash talking and putting Cas down over the last week, Including Shaun Wane. I hope you feel as stupid as you look. Cas were brilliant yesterday, Completely out played us in every department and fully deserved their win. I hope they go on to win the competition.

No such thing as an easy semi. Widnes are a good side this year and Kevin brown is capable of winning games.granted I'd rather play Widnes then Leeds but I wouldn't expect an easy game.

| WHAT Wigan fans clapping at the end of a game? Knowing their reputation I'm surpriseld anyone was left .They have usually done the WIGAN WALK long before the final whistle.

| My take is that when other clubs get as many fans to turn up in the first place, then they are in a position to be critical of anything we choose to do.

Ok you may get fans who leave if it looks like were getting beat, but that happens with all clubs fans.

Personally I feel it is important to applaud any club who plays well against us - their individual moments of brilliance, their tries and their victories. It is a matter of principle that stems back to the real gentlemen who used to surround me at Central Park, and it is something that elevates us above and beyond the parochial attitudes that threaten the very existence of rugby league.

Not true. I remember a few years ago when Leeds blitzed us at home when they won the league. They played so well that I remember them receiving spontaneous applause.

agreed.
Good Friday at the DW last year and Turner produced a superb bit of centre play to send his winger in. I applauded it for the great bit of rugby that it was.

| I've always been massively against us clapping teams 'on' to the pitch because I think it gives them an edge. To get that sort of reception at the beginning can only give opposition teams a warm, cosy feeling and put them at ease when you should be trying to make them feel the complete opposite.
Clapping teams at the end of the game though? Absolutely. I gave the Cas lads a standing ovation because they deserved it. They were excellent, fully deserved the victory and they were respectful the whole game. They didn't whine and moan at every opportunity to the referee or try and twist every rule to breaking point to get an advantage. They simply outplayed us with good, skilful, entertaining and aggressive rugby league and they were good to watch. Once my reaction as a fan can have no impact on the result I'm all for showing the opposition the respect they deserve.
