People will read into what he said what they want to hear and doing so myself I picked up on the comments about Noble introducing Pryce and Ainscough.

Now we all think he only did it because he had to and maybe IL thinks the same but for me IL saw that as a positive. If Noble drops both of them for Quins and the regular players (Nobles favourites) do not perform THEN I will be interested in what IL has to say about it.

I really don't know what people expected IL to say.

If Noble doesn't keep Ainscough in or give Sam Tomkins his chance soon, he is writing his own P45.

IL said we're getting better with each game, but I don't think we are. We played fairly well against Hull but the other two have been very poor. I think Quins will probably be Noble's last chance and rightly so, he said himself before the start of the season that it would be disasterous to go through the first month without some points.

How in God's name, can you blame IL yet excuse BN of all responsibility???

De-stabilising the club now by sacking the coach would be crazy. That would not help the development of the younger players who need a stable environment.

Although I do think, Noble and IL have a lot to answer for I also put the blame on the Hogan, the Coaches, Lyon, Vievers & Forshaw. The season started with the joke that was the delay of the kit, i.e. no sponsor, not sure who is making it delay in tops, etc. The fact that we can't defend as individuals and as a team, we can't hold a ball, the team having no direction, and the fact that most of the players have their hands on their hips blowing out of their after 10mins. But I also blame the players themselves they are not immune from the blame. I'm afraid a rot has set in we need a full look at the whole set up, top to bottom. Or we could be the next Widnes??????

Why would it not help the development of younger players? Most people seem to think it would do the opposite.

Sacking the coach doesn't destabilise a club either. They usually get sacked if the club is in a mess i.e. they are got rid of for their failures which will already be having a negative effect on the club.

Coaches doing a good job don't usually get sacked!

Very unusual for you to post something as silly as this with you being a respected poster on here, maybe its knee jerk but its Wrong nonetheless.

IL cant just chuck the manager out once a minority of the fans say so (or should that be majority) he's gotta be careful to make the decision at the right time and remember IL is a bigger Wigan fan than 98% of the posters on this C&W site messageboard. For me, Noble is all washed up and when the chairman realises that theres no option other than to phone his taxi then he will at the right time.

It will be interesting to see if IL is at his more successful club today watching them play the Aussie champs.....and if Nobby will be watching his next opponents

You should not keep a coach in a job purely for stability.

If he's not doing his job then he gets the sack. The only thing consistant Brian Noble is bringing to Wigan is boring average rugby.

whilst it is unfair to blame IL for the shambles of a club we are at the moment it is also unfair to say he has no part to play in all this. he is the leader of the club and ultimately must shoulder at least some of the blame.

also he isnt very good at giving half time team talks..

the only thing what he said at half time to the players during the cas match.

hes lost the dressing room, the players complain about his training sessions.

Anyway...

I know there is a lot of concern at BN's coaching, but he is only part of the problem. Standards have slipped across the board.

I want IL to show some leadership, to start talking about the need to go back to the old principles of second best not being good enough, about aspiring to excellence in everything the club does. He needs to set the tone which then filters down through the entire club.

Bringing in the best coach in the world and making a number of inspired signings will not solve Wigan's problems. It might mask them for a while but they would re-emerge before long.

I have become convinced that there are deep seated problems at the club in many areas (scouting/transfer policy, team selection, coaching, fitness and conditioning, leadership, morale, "might not be football related issues" etc etc). It isn't just a question of personnel changes here and there, the whole culture of the club is one of failure.

Everyone needs to recognise how much work needs to be done, how far we are behind Leeds and Stains (which is all the more depressing after the world cup showed just how ordinary their players are...).

Change at the club is needed in all areas if we are to stand a chance of closing the gap with Stains and Leeds in the medium term.

It will start with IL giving the leadership the club needs, setting the vision of the club once again epitomising excellence in everything it does.
