| Nothing excellent about it for me, we scraped through by the skin of our teeth, too many mistakes v a good performance from the 18 men from Catalans.
I would agree though, what was excellent was the display of team spirit...... apart from one individual, who shall remain nameless but only seems to be able to score from 1 yard out in the corners when someone puts the ball in his hands as he falls over the line. Put him 5 yards out and not already falling over the line and its more like

Exactly....if anyone needs to go to S/o its phelps.....thats so obvious a blind man could see it but not nobby!!! He puts a fat lazy lump of 5hyte there who should never get beyond reserve footy. Karl Pryce at stand off.....shows the failings of nobbys tactics doesnt it really!!
For me Phelps to Stand off.....Tomkins Scrum Half.....Tommy Leu Starting hooker....Richards FB...bring ainscough back in...and put the boy with trotters on the bench as thats the best he should get!! Do that and we're starting to look like a team.
Full marks have to go to goulding though tonight...showed he's gonna fight for a place at wigan and take his second chance....excellent second debut....lets hope he continues it and comes back from this loan period in the same way joel did not too long ago!!
Surprised at the EXCELLENT WIN comments though....actually expected to hear the opposite....for me that performance was FAR from excellent....we would have been mullered by leeds or stains by a good margin of 30+ points IMO....far to many errors, not enough possession or field position and generally stuggled with the ball in hand. The game for me was also about as dull as it gets.....to say it was a two pointer it was far from exciting!

| Phelps was a bit shakey juggling the ball at the start but more than made up for it, and was my MotM. The Piggy=>Leuluai=>Phelps=>Richards seems to be by far our best attacking move.
However it did pain me to see Pryce crucified before he touched the ball, it must be hard to be a player who is expected to score with ease everytime he is given the ball. A couple of occasions he looked clueless, others he was unfairly dropped in it with suicide passes (eg. the one where he got injured and thousands decided to cheer it ). No way is he a stand off, and he is behind Goulding in the centres, but I still think he could come good, as long as he isn't in the blistering spotlight of his own fans expecting him to fail. Hopefully in a few weeks when they let him play again he will prove himself, but until then him playing is doing more harm than good.

| Coley was the MOTM for me tonight. He ran well and hit hard in the tackle he latterly put his body on the line and I was impressed with his commitment and work rate.
Who would have thought that Coley and Phelps would be our stand out men at this time in the season? Coley and Phelps need to get offered one year deals each with a 2nd year option in Wigan favour.
Also as a side note Trent and Tim Smith eat your heart out as Tommy’s pass for Richards first try was literally world class imo. Credit where it’s due he saw Pat free on the wing and sent a bullet of a pass straight out to Pat’s open stretched hands!!
But I still can’t get over the feeling we are far, far to nice. How many high shots went unchallenged tonight by the players? Where is the Newton, Peacock, Morley & Faze sq aggression when it’s needed?
IL needs to bring in Carl Webb now!!! We need a poop house, rough and tough prop who will dish it out if necessary

Sorry for pointing out the obvious....and not being blinkered enough to dillude myself into thinking he is actually up to wigan standard.
At the moment there is as always for the last 10 years up to half the squad that clearly arent good enough to play for wigan.....until this is realised by the coaching staff (hopefully the new coach will realise this) we will not move forward....
Players like roberts, riddell, fielden are todays calderwood, reber, and wilkes....we just keep replacing deadwood with deadwood!!
but yes sorry for boring you....ill just be a happy clapper instead, pretend tonights game was excellent and dillude myself into thinking we're going to win the league..now thats cause for a yawn if ever there was one

Glad you saw it 2 mate!! Pryce had two touches in the 2nd half one he got booed and the 2nd they cheered when he was injured?
Sums up everything that is wrong with Wigan in that we boo our own player and cheer when they get injured!!! WTF is that about?? Do we actually want our own players to fail so we can be proved right when we say they are no good?
Mathers should have taught us a lesson that if we keep nit picking and jeering our own players we just won’t see the best of them.
We have a player in Pryce who has all the attributes to be a truly world class player. He could easily be up there with anything else in SL but instead of seeing that we pick out the negatives etc and decided to criticise rather than encourage.
Part of me actually wants Pryce to go to Saints and score a bucket load past us as it may teach a few people some patience and humility.

Honestly I’m sure I heard an ironic cheer when he stayed down after the tackle.
The bad thing about is that he had forwards stood in the way of him as well and had little option but to take the tackle.
Yes maybe he could have done better but still peoples minds are so made up about him before he even touches a ball.

It had to be good against a team that came to spoil and slow the game down. I see Walters has commented most of the penalties they got against them were deserved credit to him for that but they were offside and lying on all the time.
To rub salt into it their first try never was. I couldn't see it from the east stand but TL was so adamant he had got the winger into touch he got sin binned for his troubles. My son went for a leak at half time and they were replaying it on "Warriors TV" and he said it clearly showed he was well in touch.
With TL off the pitch from being 10 nill up we go in 10-12 down and with Richards off form with the boot we made it hard for ourselves and so to come back from 8 points down to win by two showed a lot of character.

You did, and no bloody wonder he didn't get up and play. People say he is crap, but we have seen in the past how good he can be, and we know at the moment when players are at Wigan they suddenly become sub-par, and when they leave we are all astonished when the suddenly become much better players (Mathers can now catch a ball ffs, and Orr is much improved at Quins), and put it down to failing to cope with the pressure. It obviously isn't, it is the major problem in the club that we cannot get players to play to their potential, and the blame has to fall on the coach, and he knows it.

I'm not sure you can pin this on Noble too much. Obviously it was Nobbys decision to stick the guy in at 6, a massive mistake for me, however RL is so much to do with confidence and your own fans getting on your back after you've touched the ball, what, 3 times is not really going to help.

Excellent post mate.
After a while of blaming individuals like Pryce, Coley, Bailey, Roberts, (first season) Richards, Orr etc for their standards dropping since coming to Wigan you’d think they’d realise that it’s to much of a coincidence that all these previously good players have suddenly gone bad over night?
We are Wigan fans and thus we should support the team and it’s players when they are playing for Wigan. Booing Pryce and cheering when he gets injured isn’t going to help anyone at all and I can’t see what point it achieves.
Maybe, at a push, boo the team at the end of the match if they have played badly but to boo any Wigan player during a match that is still in the balance is plain wrong.
