| Quote ="Psychedelic Casual"For me, like London, I think the coach has got them exceptionally fit. They can run hard from deep in attack and have a great defensive line, for 80 minutes.
I think that’s why London may stay up and Saints will finish top.
But they aren’t unbeatable. Twice this season Wire have been their match until lack of discipline has seen someone sin binned.'"
How can you have been our match when we’ve beat you on both occasions? The first one was an absolute thumping as well. You don’t know whether you’d have won both games if the sin bins didn’t happen. We’re ahead of you by miles because we’re a far better side that is stronger in every position apart from hooker.

| Quote ="NickyKiss"Totally agree on Saints. They’ve got a top coach but it doesn’t take much for the deck of cards to come tumbling down. It’ll take longer for him to get poached by an Aussie club then it did with Maguire from us because he’s not at a club with as big a profile. He’ll go eventually and once he leaves and that front row is broken up by retirement and Thompson quits for the NRL we’ll then see just how average some of these players being lauded really are.
No doubting they’re the best side in superleague but it’s built totally on a top coach and a great front row. That will all get broken up within the next couple of years.'"
The desperation is palpable. And somehow, I doubt NRL clubs appoint head coaches based on what teams won 50 years ago. Anyway, Saints have been more successful in the SL era than Wigan so that idea is absolute nonsense either way.

Desperation?
You’re a good side no doubt about it and I don’t think you can deny that is born out of the fact you have a top coach and a World Class front row. Take parts of that away and it will become a far bigger struggle for the rest of the ‘average to good’ superleague players (Makinson aside actually as he showed just how good he is in the test series)to dominate the way they are. Do you not think there’s a chance that in a couple of seasons Holbrook, Roby and Thompson will not be around anymore?
No desperation here, just realism!

The only desperation here is you pretending that rugby league only started in 1996. Come out of the bitter barn, you might enjoy it, despite remaining forever in our shadow.

Rugby League has been in existence for 125 years, superleague for 23 years. So if AS108 wants to argue take the percentages.
SL/RL =18.5%
If we take 18.5% of the superleague years that is equivalent of just over 4 years.
I wonder who has been the most successful clubs in the last four years of that era?
And just to add, since Superleague went to a fixed salary cap Leeds and Wigan have been the dominant forces in the game.

| In fact I'll explain it to you see if you actually have the capacity to understand a simple concept.
For you to quote 'such as' as being 'the operative words' you would have needed to have included them in your original post. Otherwise they don't have any relevance to [uyour[/u argument.
You can't quote someone else's phrase and make out that it's yours. You didn't say 'stats such as top try scorer' in [uyour[/u post.
Is that simple enough for you?

Well obviously seeing as though Maguire was the coach who won it. However, that isn’t relevant to club profile which is what the whole original point was about.

You're spot on about profile being such a decisive factor. Roosters appointed Trent Robinson because Catalans are a bigger club than Leeds, not because of his experience in the NRL before SL and relative success on SL thereafter.

Are you really this dumb? When I used the term 'such as' it was in the context of it being one of several statistics you claimed were directly comparable. It didn't offer any mitigation to your stance that they were/weren't directly comparible depending on which best suited your argument! Here, let explain context to you as you're clearly even more stupid than you first appear (doesn't seem possible, I know, but you keep providing the evidence):
If I said "I was running" you'd no doubt be able to picture a man running. If I said "my nose is running" it wouldn't mean my nose had suddenly donned little running shoes and was trotting round the block. In that context the word "running" had a different usage. Understand?
Similarly when I used "such as" in my sentence it didn't have the same meaning as it would had you used it. If you'd used it, it would have meant that 'top try scorer' was one of a series of things needed to compare players from different teams (and, of course would have meant you were arguing against your own point). When I used it, it was to illustrate it was one of several instances where you'd claimed individual statistics were directly comparable. Can you see how, in context, they have the opposite meaning and therefore you can't quote my use as if it has the same meaning as had you used it.
Are we getting there yet or are you still finding the English language confusing?

Superleague champions 2010, Challenge Cup winners 2011.Maguire to Souths 2011. I know you struggle connecting the dots but come on! Or do you think Souths would have made a move for him had he taken us to relegation?

Dear me, I said the 2018 Super League season didn’t have any bearing on Souths appointing Maguire for obvious reasons. I wasn’t on about 2010 or 2011.

The league this season is basically-
Saints
Wire
The rest'"
No they aren't and the same cow shat you come out with on our forum.
It is what it is, which is little to chose at this point.
Saints got a rest into Warmsley and Thompson whilst Hill and Cooper were on empty durng the derby.
Wire employed a game of reserved attack and stretched our own defence.
1 team way out front and like you said...but that isn't current form...that's down to Saints trying to make every post a winning post like last season.
There one team with shed loads of improving still in them with what's been seen...and that isn't Saints.
The amount of improvement available with returning players ahead of the play offs in actually quite scary!

| Keep believing they’re not streets ahead of you but you’ll only be more disappointed when you’re sat at Wembley (or at home) or you’re sat at Old Trafford (or at home) and it’s them lifting the trophies.
I’ve watched both St Helens and Wire plenty of times this year, both against us, against other sides and against each other and they’re far too good for everyone. Just because they’re slightly less too good for Wire then say Hull, doesn’t mean a thing in the shake up.
Honest opinion but we’ll see.
