Shaun Wane could welcome back seven players from injury within the next month.
Joe Burgess, Joel Tomkins and Liam Forsyth are expected to recover from minor knocks for Saturday’s televised clash with Hull FC.
Centre Oliver Gildart - victim of a Brett Ferres crusher tackle which left him with a back injury - has targeted the following match at Leigh.
Forward John Bateman and centre Anthony Gelling could be back in the mix around the same time, perhaps a week later, with Sam Tomkins also pencilled in for a return at the end of this month.
Of those, Tomkins is the only player not to figure this year. And the presence of the former Man of Steel back in a Wigan shirt would be a welcomed sight.
Wane says his No.1 is making great progress in training. “He’s getting close, he’s looking really good,” said Wane. “He has really come on - he’s like a different person to a few weeks ago.

Great news. Hopefully we pick up a win this weekend and leave ourselves in with a chance of reaching the play offs with the injured players back. I was hoping we would be able to ease Sam back into the team from the bench with Escare at FB but looks like we will need to be reliant on him immediately. I hope our fans have patience with him after so long on the sidelines

We (fc) are going through it again now
Fonau talanoa sneyd Taylor ellis Thompson
Connor playing on with a hand injury
Manu recovering from an ankle injury
Hadley injured back from on loan from wakey
Only ones we can't use as injured are Griffin and watts both banned for Saturday.
Hopefully we may have one or two back on Saturday but wouldn't suprises me if radford was holding players like ellis back for the cup game
Yet the idiotic rfl made 10 teams play 3 games in 9 days.
Think you will win this one

Good timing Brian! Encouraging that most could be back in June. Just need a couple of wins to keep us in the hunt till the big guns are back!

Looks like Wakefield have hit their injury crisis...
Trinity are on a high after Sunday's 42-30 win at reigning champions Wigan Warriors, their fifth straight victory, but it came at a cost with half-back Jacob Miller breaking a leg, new signing Adam Walker suffering a knee medial ligament injury on his debut and loose forward Tinirau Arona tearing a hamstring.
Arona is an ever-present this year while Miller has missed just one match.
"With Milky (Miller) we're looking a minimum of six weeks," said Wakefield coach Chris Chester at his weekly press conference.
"We need to get the scan results back to see if there is any damage around the ankle.
"Adam Walker has a medial rupture which potentially is eight to 10 weeks and we've lost Tinirau Arona for about five weeks with a hamstring tear.

| Willy Isa does some good things. He also does some stupid things. On balance he is a liability along with one or two others and they, like him, wouldn't get anywhere near the first team if (Sam) Tomkins, Bateman, Escare, Gildart and Gelling were fit. That said, I am looking forward to a trip to Tolouse!

| At least we get Gildart and (possibly) Gelling back for Leigh this week.
For me, even having 1 first-choice centre is a massive boost. To have both would be fantastic.
(and yes, I know that they will take a bit of time to get back in to the swing of things, but I'd far rather have them than not)

Really cant see it being late July, I think late June. Last update was Gildart back for Leigh, followed closely by Gelling then Bateman and Sam. Both Tomkins and Bateman have just done a 4 day training camp in Manchester, so can see them returning roughly at the same time. Hopefully get to the end of this month without any further injuries and will start to get close to a stronger squad.

That's what was said in the press conference on Saturday evening, yes.
Although, having checked the Wigan Warriors Twitter account, that says that we will check on both before Thursday.
On Saturday, it was stated that Gildart was definite and Gelling was highly likely.
Not sure what to believe now.

| Budgie to FB if we have both Gelling and Gildart back? Memory may be playing tricks but I'm fairly sure he has played well there before? I'd rather drop Tierney than Davies or Marshall on current form.

| A bit harsh on Tierney. Just watch his try v Hull on Saturday (the 11 pass one) and see how much ground he covers to be in the position to score.

Agree he did wel for that try and is alright in attack but to be honest too much of a worry in defence. Did make one great try saving tackle again Hull though.
I don't recall Burgess ever playing FB.

| You can't knock Tierneys work rate and enthusiasm but he's lacking defensively to be a full back and he's dodgy under the high ball.

The modern game requires your full back to be a serious attacking threat. Tierney is nothing like that! His link up play is terrible most of the time and the sooner he's out of the 17 the better for me!

| You can't question his effort most of the time but ultimately Tierney is nowhere near the required standard to play fullback for Wigan. He can be reasonably elusive with the ball but that's pretty much where his list of skills start and end. We can't afford to play how we play and then expect to be able to carry a lad at full back who doesn't create a single thing. This isn't new either, it was exactly the same last year but we at least had a good option in Sarginson.
He's an ok winger but even then he's now got four better options in front of him. I would look to give Burgess, Gildart or Marshall a go at fullback before I'd turn back to Tierney tbh. Does Fell have any sort of creative game? From the limited times I've seen him he seemed to have a bit more about him in that regard then Tierney.
